Pre-Draft Thoughts

-by Roger Bluhm

As the NFL draft is just two days away as of this writing, I wonder who the Dolphins will pick. Will it be a good draft, such as Chris Chambers in the second round or Randy McMichael in the fourth round? Or, will it have the stench of first round busts Billy Milner, John Bosa and John Avery? I liked the draft class of 2002 and believe there is enough talent out there for the Dolphins to get quality in the later rounds.

However, I believe the best addition to the Fins this offseason is Junior Seau -- for now. On June 1, it is likely Brian Griese will be where he belongs, in a Miami Dolphins uniform. It's where he wanted to be from a small child and where he will make an impact when, and I mean when, not if, Jay Fiedler is injured next season. I love Fiedler's smarts, his toughness and his ability to make things go right early in a season. However, his toughness also means he ends up getting hurt. When he does go down, I don't want to see Ray Lucas coming anywhere near the huddle.

Before last season ended, I told several co-workers Griese would end up with the Dolphins. It may take a Griese to lead the Fish to a win in the Super Bowl -- just like his Daddy did.
