Title: Fins: Smiley's addition Post by: DolFan619 on August 20, 2008, 08:59:35 pm http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_seasonticket/2008/08/fins-smileys-ad.html
Fins: Smiley's addition Planning a Justin Smiley column for later in the week. Interesting character. He got a $9 million signing bonus, which made him the highest-paid veteran addition. That's more than the Dolphins have ever spent on a free agent guard, far as my research has found. Do you think it will be money well-spent? Before you answer, here's a chart.... From 2002 through 2007, 14 different players started at one of the two guard spots for the Dolphins: Jeno James, 39 Rex Hadnot, 36 Jamie Nails, 15 Todd Perry, 15 Chris Liwienski, 14 L.J. Shelton, 11 Taylor Whitley, 11 Kendyl Jacox, 8 Alonzo Ephraim, 3 Damion McIntosh, 2 Bennie Anderson, 2 Cory Lekkerkerker, 2 Seth McKinney, 1 Greg Jerman, 1 > Posted by Ethan J. Title: Re: Fins: Smiley's addition Post by: Sunstroke on August 20, 2008, 11:21:51 pm I think Smiley will be a mainstay on this line for a long time...never a question in my mind whether it was a good signing. Title: Re: Fins: Smiley's addition Post by: DolFan619 on August 21, 2008, 10:21:08 am I was reading some of the comments that were left on Ethan's blog, and I actually agree with the one poster that said Smiley is the kind of a guy you want between a rookie LT and a 2nd year C, but I can also see Shawn Murphy taking over the LG spot down the road.
