Title: Predictions - Super Bowl
Post by: Dave Gray on January 23, 2006, 01:41:58 pm
I am surprised that Pitt is favored.  Seattle looks to be a better team to me.  I took them to win.  20 bucks pays 35 or something like that.

I need to stick with the team I had faith in throughout the playoffs.

Pittsburgh wins.

I'm going Pittsburgh.  I like their defense better.  I like their wideouts better, too.

Seahawks: 31
Steelers: 23

Alexander runs roughshod and apeshit all over the Steelers, totalling 175 total yards and 2 TDs. Hasselbeck passes for two other scores and the Seahawks defense sacks Roethlishoagie 4 times.

Pittsburgh  30
Seattle       21

Steeler's defense is impressive.  Ben is a QB on the road to the Hall (prediction of my own),  I'm jealous.   :(

While Pittsburgh has a bunch of warriors and blue-collar players that have had experience in these types of games, Seattle's talent, particularly at running back and on the offensive line, tips the scales.

Seahawks 24

Steelers 20

I say Seahawks win based on Alexander alone.....He is unstoppable. If the Steelers can stop Shaun....they can win. I do not see that happening!!!!!

I don't know, They stopped the awesome Denver running machine. They also stopped the incredible Peyton Manning. Their defense has been able to adjust, and thats why I think they can stop Seattle.

Even including the great Terrell Davis, I don't think that Denver has "ever" had a RB of Alexander's caliber. Certainly neither one of the Mike Anderson-Tatum Bell duo they're running this year is even in the same ballpark.

AZ nailed it...Shaun is unstoppable. (short of another concussion taking him out, of course)

Caolina has a good defense as well and Alexander went buck wild on them. Pitt will make him work but they can only hope to contain him because stopping him is not an option!!!!!

The Carolina Panthers storm the field and win at the last moment.

Pittsburgh - 24
Seattle - 20

looking at what palomalu did to plummer and manning, i'll take him to match up well against hasselbeck, and the remainder of the steelers D to take care of alexander.

Seattle 38

Big Ben duplicates Dan the Man's only Super Bowl and will never find his way to one again.

Wow, just wow. Alexander wiil be lucky to get 50 yds rushing here and Seattle is missing 1 thing, and thats a threat at TE. Without that, they can't beat Pitt.

Enjoy the blowout:

Pitt 42
Seattle 10

No TE? You must be thinking about the Broncos.  The best TE in the SB is playing for Seattle...Jerramy Stevens.

Heath Miller is a pretty damned good TE for a rookie. In fact, he had one more TD than Stevens this season.

Jerramy Stevens is certainly a threat at TE...

What you forget is that Seattle has one of the best O-line in the league, and Pittsburgh wins games by blitzing the lights out.

What are they gonna do when Polamalu gets stood up at the line every time and leaves the deep middle wide open?

Lights out...  blitz all day long, it'll be D-Jax deep and Shaun on the screen.  Watch it!

I like Heath Miller...he was the primary TE on the Nimrods' title run in YJFF this season ( ;D ), but I still think Jerramy Stevens has a little more talent.

Exactly...I think Pittsburgh is in for a little bit of a surprise against the 'Hawks O-line.

In an unprecendented move, A J Hawk joins the Seahawks before the season is even over and kills five Steeler players on one tackle.

Steelers 31
Seahawks, 28

Won in OT by a field goal.

PIT  28
SEA 24

I am not impressed with Seattle. They beat up on a heavily injured Panthers squad at home, & their regular season schedule was weak. Their key victiories against teams like Dallas were decided by 4 or less points. They haven't faced a defense like Pittsburgh's. Steelers cover.

I just thought I'd pull this thread to the top to remind people of what they were saying prior to the game.
