Title: Jets-Fins game
Post by: MikeO on September 22, 2012, 01:36:45 pm
Not a lot of talk this week on this board about tomorrow's game. I don't think we will see a lot of scoring. I don't see the Jets running on Miami. If Keller doesn't play that will really hurt the Jets offense. On the other side the Jets are gonna dare Miami to throw on them all day.  The Jets defense is solid and I think Miami will struggle to score points. I have a hunch it will be a touchdown or less type a game. A 3 or 4 pt outcome (that could go either way). Not sure if either side is capable of a blowout on each other since both teams have pretty solid defensive units. I think Week 1 was a bit of a fluke for the Jets scoring wise as was last week for Miami.  I think this game comes down to turnovers and field position. Which team can give their offense the best chance to score because neither offense is great.

And for the love of god if Tannehill happens to struggle Sunday vs the Jets and doesn't play a great game it isn't the end of the world. We don't need to hear the "HE IS A BUST" talk. Just save it. It's NFL start #3 for him and vs a good NFL defense and an excellent defensive mind in Rex. He is going to have his up's and down's this year and if he struggles vs a good defense it doesn't mean the sky is falling or he is a bust.

Keller is OUT for Sunday's game

I briefly considered taking the Jests in the Eliminator Challenge, but under no circumstance do I want to be happy about their probable victory over Miami.

I predict at least one Tannehill pick 6.  I think this one could get very ugly for the Fins and could very well be a shut out.  This is not an indictment of Tannehill per say, but more of an indictment of a rookie QB going against a defense that can make any young QB look bad.

I hope I'm wrong because I'd love nothing more than to see coach Fist Pump keep losing in Miami.

I too agree it should be a close, low scoring game. For me, here are the keys...

Miami MUST put pressure on Sanchez. The Jets are not a big threat to run well, but the secondary needs to step up. 3-4 sacks along with 5-6 would be great.

Miami needs to have at least  a decent run game. I RT has to throw, esp. 3rd and long, we are sunk.

No turnovers on O, but create at least one on D.

I agree -- not much talk, but what's to say?

I think that today is our real test to see what kind of team we are.

Key to the game: Pressure on Sanchez.

Watching some of the Sunday Morning shows, everyone expects Tannehill to turn it over like 4 or 5 times and the Jets defense are being made to be the 85" Bears.

While I don't expect a perfect day from Tannehill, I don't think he will be that bad. I think he could struggle and I could see us losing because of it.  Miami will have trouble scoring points all year. It's just gonna be that way. It's not like we have a lot of weapons on offense. I think though it's a touchdown type game that could go either way. 4-7 pt outcome. Jets probably win but Miami could win and I wouldn't be shocked.

I took Miami and the points lol.

If Tannehill continues to suck we can pick up Landry or Barkley in the 4th or 5th round next year. Lol

Anyone notice the sideline seats are still 1/2 mile from the field. I thought they were supposed to fix that as soon as the marlins left???? So much for the crowd being a factor.

I am getting tired of Coyles BS on 3rd. Have not seen 1 Fing blitz and sanchez sits in the middle. Bring Dansby or Misi once in a friggin while!!!

It was the same shit last week. No pressure until 4th 1/4. Lucky to hold rads to 13 points with almost 400 yds. passing. That shit won't happen again.

Throw the ball...

I am not liking the coaching thus far. Play calling, using Bush to run out the clock, wasted timeouts, no throws past 10 yds.

They have to re-establish the run before they let Tannehill throw it. Miami can't just drop back and pass every play they will get destroyed

Then we are screwed. Thomas and Miller will not establish dick against the jest. Throw to open up the run.

That's what I have been saying. Bush opens everything up. They need to re-establish the run to at least get the Jets thinking they are just gonna throw every down

Dan Carpenter needs to be cut, I don't see why they can't figure that out.

Wow. So upsetting. Stupid HC trying to ice a kicker for a chip shot. Carpenter failing again....

And another coach outhinks himself on the timeout right before the kick and it costs him. oh go f yourself carpenter.

I hate that icing bs timeout, esp. a chip shot. Just a fitting end to a piss poor coaching day.

I would not mind seeing Carp replaced. He had 1 great year and kickers are a dime a dozen.

Would definitely look for another kicker.....missing kicks under 50 yds just doesn't cut it!

Cost us the game PLAIN and SIMPLE!

Near 50 yard kicks should never be thought of as gimmes.  As much as I'd like to blame Carpenter, you can't.  Rookie coach is learning on the job.

If they TAKE A KNEE before the half, Bush doesn't get hurt. Miami wins. Period!

I don't know if it's a guaranteed win, but the decision to not take a knee was a huge question mark.  Plus, the decision to keep Daniel Thomas in throughout the 2nd half was dubious.  Was Miller hurt or something?

Miller was missing blocking assignments and was abotu to get Tannehill killed. Plus he forgot a play and went the wrong way on a handoff

I saw the mess up on the running attempt and don't think we saw him after that.  It's a shame if he was missing blocking assignments as he's a huge improvement over Thomas as he can actually do something with the football.  Have I mentioned how much Thomas sucks?

I know this loss stings but the pieces are there. Tannehill is quality. Miller is quality. The o-line is now outstanding. Let them get the rookie mistakes out of their way now.

It might be a long year but the future is looking up. This team needs more players and it isn't going to happen this year. It's a processes and at least we have some key pieces to build around.

Uh, no. The Jets are a bad team. IF Miami beat them and was 2-1 they still wouldn't be in a playoff push.

That is just silly. Hindsight is always 20/20. He could have just as easily slipped getting his morning paper.

Now THAT is silly. Comparing getting injured on a meaningless play to falling at home. Plus who buys the morning paper anymore? Everything is online!

If you aren't taking a knee and are just running out the clock not trying to score, put in Thomas or Miller then! Don't risk your ONLY player on offense

Have you lost your mind today? Every single time Bush touches the ball he is a threat to score. The fact he got hurt doesn't change a thing.

Playoff push, push for a better draft pick...tomatoes, tomotoes....

Seriously, the Jets were a playoff team in 2 of the last 3 yrs. and only wasn't last year because we knocked them out. How bad can they be???

Fins outright GAVE this game away. Obviously Carpenter, but they could have tried to get him a little closer. Anthony Armstrong also dropped what could have been a key 1st Down, hit him right in the numbers. CB Marshall also deserves some of the blame. And Philbin's gotta feel like an idiot calling time out to ice the Kicker when Fins block the FG attempt. Also did not really see any concerted effort to work on Revis' replacement after he went out.

no they weren't. Had Bush picked up some yards we would have then tried moving the ball.  it's one of those things where, because of field position, you run a safe play and then if you break it you try to run it into something. I was listening on the radio at that point and that's how they portrayed it. You, and I , have seen people do that numerous times.

Philbin made the same mistake in Houston on week one.  Take a knee and go to halftime.  This is not a dynamic scoring team and under no circumstance were they doing anything but running up the middle and eating clock.

The injury is a freak one for sure, but it should have never happened.  That's on Philbin.

Once again, it sucks losing a game you should've won. Looks like a week of avoiding sports talk radio. I can't take a week of hearing: "How the jets are on their way, Sparano gets his revenge, Is it time to start Tebow?"

On a better note. The Dolphins are showing more promise than I thought they would at this point.

LOL Wait until next week. Everyone will be talking about the 4-0 Cards and asking when Tanny gets out of the hospital. Vick took a beating yesterday!

Excuse me for the prickish anti Tebow comment here....It might have already been mentioned...

When we play the jets again....Every time Tebow doesn't line up as a QB, I would liked to seen him get jammed hard off the line of scrimmage...On Special teams make sure he gets blocked down...While the Jets aren't fully taking advantage of what Tebow is doing now (I was shocked at how little they used him yesterday.) I wonder if they'd use him less as a decoy (lined up other than QB) if he's taking unnecessary hits..

I'm not talking about Knee capping Tebow, the poor player that ever hurts Tebow  :o

Cardinal talk, I can tolerate. But the green team from NY talk is nauseating. Once it starts, it doesn't stop.

Tebow was so god awful bad yesterday when he was playing offense  I wouldn't do anything different when we play them again. He went for a pass and the ball hit him in the head. He tried his little wildcat plays a few times and it blew up on him every time. Let Tebow be Tebow and don't mess with anything. Let him F' up on his own.

Aside from the fake punt he was worthless yesterday. On offense and hurt them more than helped them. And for the 2nd time in 3 weeks they line Tebow up at QB for a play it goes bad, the next play Sanchez is at QB and throws an INT. That is why it is a disaster for the Jets.
