Title: Caughlin - Zero to Hero
Post by: maquaw on March 07, 2008, 11:47:53 pm
It's funny how the same man, who was looked at as not relating to the players and close to getting canned by the Giants in 07, is now good enough for a 4 year 21 million dollar contract with the Giants.  It must be nice!

See what winning the Super Bowl will get you?

I like Tom Coughlin. My kind of guy. Tough and no nonsense. He has mellowed a lot from years past but not that much. Anyone who blocked for Larry Csonka and Floyd Little in college is tough in my book.

He deserves every penny and maybe he should use some of that dough to buy Tiki Barber a muzzle.

I think the problem with Coughlin was not him personally but the locker room disease know as Tiki Barber and sometime Jeremy Shockey calling him out.  Any time when you have player mutiny its only a matter of time when other players are going to take sides.

In  Camoron's case.  He deserved the mutiny cause he was an Ass-hat  ;D Everytime I think about Cam Camoron I want to ******* Oh brother ;D

Just heard the news on my way back home.  I thought the exact same thing.
4 years? Damn. I honestly don't see NY being that damn good. We'll see.

Winning a Super Bowl has its privileges.

I was one person who wanted Couglin fired like Tommy wanted Cam Cameron fired after 2 games. It was OVER.

Then, in week 3, something happened at halftime of the Redskins game, and the team was different. I cannot wait for America's Game on the 2007 NYG's.

Coughlin, by the way, knows upsets. The Jags in 1996 upset Denver at Mile High in the playoff game, which was a ridiculous upset of epic proportions then, considering the strength of the Broncos and the supposed weakness of the baby expansion franchise.

And they came within 15 yards of toppling New England and playing Green Bay in the Super Bowl the following week .

What is an ass hat? Anyway the Conklin thread shows to go the only coaching performance --all that counts -- is winning. I read this Parcells guy in an HBR team leadership rag currently on the stands at Borders, in talking about his 5 point plan, says the winning attitude must be cultivated by at first a willing player, else he ought to go. ALSO he said a thing like he always meets and confronts his wannabe's. Judging from the article which he'd written before joining the Phins, one of two cases exist in FInland.

Either Parcells has changed his ways since he's promoted above the coaching ranks or he's confronted Cam directly, and haivng decided the guy's a loser, started all over again. That's really saying something, because I have always maintained the offense was solid last year, before the rash of injuries and trades.

I'd been the guy posting under a quite different quise in the past, who promoted big o-line power play. Using the early success of Lovie's Bears as a prime example, the Dolphins made thier bets to finally go that way. Sure there are things good about Saban's or Cam's system, but I think the NFL success stories typically Bear out Parcells methods.

The Finfans should take heart with Conklin and brace themselves for the right experience.

Right on ethurst!! This is my exact feelings toward Tom Coughlin.  He is way underated as a head football coach.  Any team in the NFL would be lucky to have a class act like Tom Coughlin as there head coach.
