OK guys, the quintessential Doctor D has graciously provided his lovely home as the meeting place for draft day. 


The draft will be on Saturday April 26 at noon.  I will contribute some steaks as well as coldies.  Anyone who's interested, RSVP here and PM Doctor D for directions to his house.   

I cannot attend in person, but I will be there in Spirit

My wife, who metaphorically wears the pants in my household, has given her consent. A 62 inch TV, cold beer, and  a Solaire Grille for the steaks awaits all TDMMC members who wish to attend the festivities in Maitland (about 8 miles north of downtown Orlando, exit 90 off I-4).

I should be able to make it out. We'll see how it works out.

Dang it, just my luck that I didn't discover this web site until after I moved away from Florida.  And now I keep missing all of these great TDMMC get-togethers.  I hope everyone has a great time and it is very gracious indeed of the Good Doctor and his wife to play hosts to the event.  Doc, you may want to take a quick review of your Homeowner's Policy just to make sure you have adequate fire protection (given the group's history of arson at public gatherings).   ;D

If you got to know Ms Doctor D, she is a sweetheart.  She thinks very highly of all of us despite Doctor D's efforts to tell her otherwise. 


As long as nobody's celebrating a birthday on Draft Day, we should be fine in regards to fire. 

OK, as the time draws near, start PMing me with your cell phone numbers and PM Doctor D for directions. 

Will you guys come to the airport on Friday and kidnap me so I can't go home until after Saturday?  ;D

Why don't you push your flight back by one day? Southwest has lots of non stop cheap flights from Orlando to the east terminal at Lambert. I'll even dig out a Ted Drews shirt if you make the scene.

Plus, I'm not flying SW.  I don't know how much it would cost to change my ticket, even if Mr. StL hadn't given me "the look" when I mentioned it.

Good question.  I always call people by both. 

Tommy likes to use forum names, but I prefer real names. I suppose the best answer is whatever name you want me to call you by is just fine. I just have to give some name which you can recall to the guard at the gate so they let you in the subdivision.

"Hi, I'm here to see doctord56..."

Guard: "Who?"

"you know, Doctor D!"

Guard: "Sir, please vacate the premises, immediately..."

LOL.  That could happen!!!!

On a more serious note, I'd like to hear what people like to eat and drink at football parties.  I'm contributing food and beer.

And as the host, I'll PM everyone who RSVP's my real name and address and how to get to my house. I'll get steaks and corn on the cob for the grille, and be sure we have soda and other appropriate liquid refreshments for those over 21. A good time should be had by all.

Also if someone could bring a laptop, that would be great.  That way we can all post live on the site while we're partying here in Central Florida

We can use my laptop, as long as you promise not to spill any beer on it.

As long as you don't set it on fire, I shouldn't have a problem pouring liquid on it.   ;D ;D ;D

Less than two weeks to go. 

Doc, I'll provide the steaks.  Winn Dixie has huge cuts of London Broil that are buy one get one free, so I'll bring a couple of 3 pounders over along with steak sauce.  I'll also contribute a 12 pack of coldies as well as chips and salsa. 

London broil and beer sounds good; I realize we're not dealing with a montrachet, sherry and boursin cheese kind of crowd.

Let's see how many people are coming over, before we cook up 6 pounds of meat.

Unfortunately I will not be attending. I have another draft day engagement I will be going to.

This sounds like a fun gathering, I wish I could partake.

Unless the weather in Maine is terrible, 2008 will be one of the first times I have missed the draft.  Weekend.  Spring.  Maine.  22 month old.

Yeah...there won't be much TV on the docket for Maine that day.  I wish you all a rockin' jolly 'ol time.  Have one for me!

I actually had the opportunity to go to Orlando for a trade show on the 24th and 25th, which means I could've been there on the 26th. Unfortunately, I'll be laying in bed with a bag of frozen peas on my groin.  :-[

Anyhow, next week I'll try and gather up RSVP's and see if it's just me and Tommy at casa doctord, versus hopefully a much larger group.

Ms Tommy and her brother in law, Mark, who happens to be a diehard Cowboys fan (are you listening GoCowboys?) will be in attendance.  I've talked to Bingebag and he's in as well.

OK.  Let's get a final head count rolling.  Who's in and who's out?

We have a 4:00 soccer game in Sanford or else I would have been there.

The draft starts at 12, CF.  Why not show up for an hour or so?

If that is true then I should be able to be there.  I've had a hard time trying to find the start time and I was told it began at 3:00 pm.  I thought that was pretty late.

The draft does start at 3:00 PM. The NFL has cut the time teams have, pushed back the start time, and are only having two rounds on the first day.

   My name is Mike Sciotto. I'm in the forum under Sciotto. Tommy told me to RSVP ASAP to let you know I can make Draft Day. Should I bring anything?
   I've lived, died, laughed, and cried with this team, but after Jacksonville in January '00, I became thoroughly disgusted.

   I was one of many who pushed for Jimmy Johnson's hiring, and I've made it my goal to apologize to every living Dolfan who was alive in January '96 to ask for forgiveness for that blunder. I'll explain more when we meet.

Sciotto, we'll have plenty of food and drink. Bring something only if you have any special dietary type needs, or if you have anything special you want me to grill. If there is anything out of the ordinary you like to drink you can bring  it, but we'll have stuff to quench the thirst.

Doc, I've given both Sciotto and Bingebag the address you gave me. 

I'm still scratching my head over the draft starting at 3 pm.  That's a real doozy.  Well, more time to marinate the steaks, I suppose.

I am coaching that day so I have to be at the soccer game and I'm going to the Predator game afterwards.  Hopefully I will see some of you at the Ale House on Tuesday evening.

OK.  Sciotto and myself are in.  Ms Tommy and her brother in law, Mark The Cowboys Fan will be there as well. 

Bingebag and USO Orlando are strong possibles.

I figure people can show up about 2 pm or so, roughly an hour before the draft starts. It will be helpful to know the night before who's coming, so we can have enough refreshments and food.

I'll keep an eye on those two.  I might come over a little bit earlier than that and start cooking..... if that's okay with you.

Having fun with Doctor D, Ms Doctor D, Ms Tommy, and Sciotto.  Just polished off some thick steaks with onions and mushrooms and there's lots and lots of beer. 

I enjoyed having everyone over...the beer was cold, the steaks were thick, and no fires were reported. A fun time was had by all.

I didn't know you guys were having the Maker's. Have I ever mentioned I am a Maker's Mark Ambassador? I have business cards (I seem to have misplaced them), glasses, shakers, and even a stamp for making wax seals. They have a cask aging with my name (along with several other ambassadors) on a plaque.

Next time you have a choice of draft day engagements, choose a little wiser.

Sounds like you all had a great time and that the Good Doctor was a fine host.  Just my like that I didn't find this web site til after I moved out of Florida.  One of these days I'll get back "home" and will hopefully get a chance to meet some of the members.

Just let us know when you do and we'll arrange something.
