I would said "screw that" and gotten the hell outta there.

I was woken up by some violent shaking, but in my weary, jet lagged state, I thought that it was turbulance, because I had just spent 20 hrs. on an airplane the night before.

Oh you poor inlanders. Part of the "fun" of a hurricane is watching news reporters on the beach blowing around in the wind and getting hit in the head with coconuts.
