Title: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: TonyB0D on April 25, 2008, 04:30:08 pm just thought i'd start a separate thread since he's likely gone tomorrow :'(
anyways i was thinking of all of the possibilities. we know tuna's looking for a late 1st rounder, but i was thinking of possible straight up player for player trades (which are very rare these days). i'll get the ball rolling with two - keep adding! Lito Sheppard - Philly wants to dump Lito after signing Assante (don't know why, ditch sheldon and you'll have one of the best CB tandems in the leage). how about a straight up swap?? We need major help at that position (2x All-Pro), and Philly definitely needs a game changing defender in the trenches. Ocho Cinco - Very disgruntled. Sure, our offense is a work in progress, but we definitely have a clear direction and will be competitive in the near future. Chad was caught on camera telling Parcells to "call me!". He's from Florida, and as long as he gets his touches and wins, he'll keep his mouth shut. Besides, who doesn't love his TD celebrations? Cincy needs a player like JT, and we need a WR like Chad. Do it! Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Kirbyjr on April 25, 2008, 04:34:39 pm How about to Cleveland in some sort of package for Brady Quinn?
Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: raptorsfan29 on April 25, 2008, 04:37:05 pm enough with the brady quinn talk, we didn't get him, we won't get him in the future, we will never get him period.
Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Philly Fin Fan on April 25, 2008, 04:37:15 pm I was thinking of the Taylor/Sheppard deal the other day when the Eagles were mentioned as one of the few teams interested in JT.
The Eagles are rumored to want a 1st round pick for Sheppard, but have no trade leverage, since they signed Samuel and have said they want to trade Sheppard. I'd do it. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Brian Fein on April 25, 2008, 04:38:11 pm JT for Sheppard and a 1st rounder? Or JT for sheppard straight up?
Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Philly Fin Fan on April 25, 2008, 04:39:50 pm enough with the brady quinn talk, we didn't get him, we won't get him in the future, we will never get him period. The thread asked for trade ideas. He's entitled to his idea, just like you are entitled to yours. I don't think it would be a good trade for the Fins. But like I said, he's entitled to his idea, so no need to talk down to him for expressing his opinion. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: DolFan619 on April 25, 2008, 04:46:51 pm Jason Taylor to Jacksonville for their second and fourth round pick.
Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: stinkfish on April 25, 2008, 04:54:57 pm Jason Taylor to Jacksonville for their second and fourth round pick. No. If he's going to go, it's got to be to a contender. I like the Eagles or Bengals scenerios. What about Dallas for a WR, or DB?Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Philly Fin Fan on April 25, 2008, 04:56:55 pm No. If he's going to go, it's got to be to a contender. I was never a fan of Brady Quinn, but if Cleveland thinks Derek Anderson is the real deal and wanted to shop Quinn, then why not? This guy was a projected top 5 to 10 pick and all we ever hear about is how we need to get young and we need help at the QB position. If Taylor is worth a 3rd-4th rounder and we could get a potential future QB that was a first round pick, while Cleveland could get needed help on defense, I dont get why we wouldnt entertain the idea. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: DolFan619 on April 25, 2008, 05:06:41 pm I was never a fan of Brady Quinn, but if Cleveland thinks Derek Anderson is the real deal and wanted to shop Quinn, then why not? They won't shop Quinn this offseason. Savage is smarter than that, Cleveland would be foolish to wash their hands of Quinn without seeing another season of Derek Anderson. If Anderson is the same quarterback in 2008 that he was in 2007, they'll take offers for Quinn. But not now. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: DolFan619 on April 25, 2008, 05:11:14 pm The Jags are contenders. The Jags are most definately contenders. The one thing they didn't have in the playoffs, was a good pass rusher. They get an elite pass rusher, they could be Super Bowl bound. Jason Taylor probably gives Jacksonville that advantage to capitilize on their Super Bowl window. Jacksonville SHOULD give up their first round pick. It's not like they need it, but the reality is the best we could get from Jacksonville is a 2nd and a 4th. Or, if you really want to get creative, both of Jacksonville's third round picks. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Guru-In-Vegas on April 25, 2008, 05:21:23 pm I wouldn't do it for 2 more 3rd rounders. I like the Sheppard idea. Also ocho-stinko. Ideally, i would like a first round pick though. And Jax is a bigger contender than Philly and the Bungles and like I mentioned in another thread, they would benefit more from an elite pass rusher than a rookie that will take a couple of years to develop.
Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Dave Gray on April 25, 2008, 05:22:07 pm Why are we so sure that a trade with JT is inevitable? ...just because the draft is coming?
Parcells says that JT will be a Fin unless he retires. Do you guys have other info? Do you guys have other info? http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-jason042208,0,237119.story Where there's smoke, there's fire. I honestly believe that Jason Taylor does not want to go through another rebuilding process in Miami. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Brian Fein on April 25, 2008, 05:30:48 pm From your linked article...
Quote One of those executives said the Dolphins have indeed fielded offers for its six-time Pro Bowl selection, but might be asking for too much in return for a 33-year-old expected to earn nearly $17 million in the final two years of his contract. Fielding offers is VERY different from shopping. We could offer something for Payton Manning, does that mean the Colts are shopping him? This, IMO is pre-draft fodder, and nothing more. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Guru-In-Vegas on April 25, 2008, 05:32:15 pm How much do players actually even care about winning a superbowl? What does he care if theres 5 more rebuilding phases and they never win shit as long as his paychecks are fat?
I think we're made to think that all players really care about winning it all, when in reality its possible that only a small minority actually give a crap. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: RhodeIslandPhinFan on April 25, 2008, 05:33:01 pm This is the draft we need to stock up on picks. There is a lot of talent out there. I am hoping we get a shot at Aqib Talib and/or Malcolm Kelly in Rd. 2.

I don't think I agree with this. When you have a perennial pro-bowl guy nearing the end of his career, the one thing they WANT is a ring. Just ask Dan Marino.Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: ochizon on April 25, 2008, 05:44:34 pm How much do players actually even care about winning a superbowl? These guys are competitors at the top of their game... not care about winning? Not a chance. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Sunstroke on April 25, 2008, 06:37:54 pm Jason Taylor to Jacksonville for their second and fourth round pick. I'd love this, and if I had to lay odds at this point, I'd say Jax is the favorite. I'd settle for a straight 2nd rounder though. I am a little skittish on Lito Sheppard, mainly because he's already 27 years old, and has missed 14 games over the last 3 seasons. If we are "really" going all out to get younger, I want draft picks or players under 25 in a deal for JT. I tend to agree with RhodeIsland that this is the draft to have as many picks as possible. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Guru-In-Vegas on April 25, 2008, 07:55:13 pm Did you ever actually PLAY sports? Better start listening to Finsradio! Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: doctord56 on April 25, 2008, 10:25:47 pm ESPNradio is reporting that the Dolphins are Talking to the Jaguars, for the Jags first round and swapping 2nd round picks... Better start listening to Finsradio! We'll see if this happens tomorrow, or if it's just a silly rumor. But if it's real, I think it would be a good deal for both teams. The dolphins would get a first round player, and the Jags would get the pass rusher they need to move to the next level. I'd pull the trigger on this deal as well...... although if they can keep him around for now, and then trade him in October for a 2009 first rounder, I would be happy with that as well. Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: bsfins on April 26, 2008, 06:45:43 pm anyone hearing that J.T. has been traded..there's one in the Finsradio chatroom..to the Bucs....anyone heard anything?

Now they are saying 3 picks in 09...2nd 4th,and 6th....on finsradio I'm sorry...I'm not trying to be a rumor monger...but just passing on the info..... Omar kelly is denying the trade has happened yet....but if it's 09...it doesn't matter Title: Re: JT Trade Ideas/Rumors Post by: Philly Fin Fan on April 26, 2008, 08:42:03 pm St Petersburg Times is saying it does involve pick #52

Yeah although we can't get better than a third rounder for him so that's out of the question. It would be stupid to deal JT right now for what teams would give us. I'm still reeling about seeing Zach go and both guys in one year would be too much. Jaguars coach says Dolphins are keeping Jason Taylor By Harvey Fialkov Sun-Sentinel.com 11:10 AM EDT, April 27, 2008 DAVIE - The morning after Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland shot down rumors of a draft-day trade of Jason Taylor, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Sunday that he believes the six-time Pro Bowl defensive end isn't going anywhere. "We took a good look at that,'' Del Rio said on ESPN. "We talked to them about him. It never worked out where it fit our teams. Obviously, they feel good about the player and are going to keep him.'' The Jaguars traded up to take Florida defensive end Derrick Harvey at No. 8 in the first round, and then took Auburn defensive end Quentin Groves in the second. A source said that Taylor was unhappy about a chilly reception received from the coaching staff a few weeks ago when he dropped in for a visit to headquarters. Instead of working out with his teammates, Taylor has been competing on ABC reality show, 'Dancing with the Stars.' Dolphins vice president of football operations Bill Parcells said last month that the only way Taylor wouldn't play for the Dolphins this season was if he, "retires.'' Ireland said late Saturday that some Internet reports saying that Taylor was being traded to the Tampa Bay Bucs for three draft picks were unsubstantiated rumors. "We didn't get any calls [Saturday], so there was no discussion,'' Ireland said. "I was aware of it after the fact, but obviously it's strictly rumor.'' However, earlier Saturday Dolphins co-owner H. Wayne Huizenga said that he wouldn't stand in the way of moving Taylor to a championship contender. "We've had a lot of conversations but we never really got down to saying trading him,'' Huizenga said on ESPN 760-AM. "That never happened. What's the best thing for Jason? He's got a big career ahead of him yet...He should go where he can go to the big game.'' The Dolphins have used two of their first four picks on defensive ends, including Clemson's Phillip Merling and Hampton's Kendall Langford. "I like drafting core positions and definitely a pass rusher/defensive end is a core position,'' Ireland said late Saturday. |
