Title: Teacher Fired for Magic Trick Post by: CF DolFan on May 05, 2008, 07:56:23 pm I know you guys will have fun with this so let me be the one to start it by saying ... WTH?? :-\
http://www.wftv.com/news/16168335/detail.html Quote Substitute Teacher, Jim Piculas, was fired after making a toothpick disappear, then reappear in front of a classroom at a Land O' Lakes Middle School. The Pasco County School District said the tricks were "wizardry". School officials say they had other problems with the substitute teacher, like not following lesson plans and allowing students to play on unapproved computers. Piculas is now concerned the incident may prevent him from getting future teaching jobs. The middle school sold the naming rights to the school to a stick of butter, what do you expect from the school? :) :) :) :) Title: Re: Teacher Fired for Magic Trick Post by: Dave Gray on May 05, 2008, 08:09:36 pm I posted this story already in the other teacher thread. It helped make my point that you can pretty much get fired for anything.

And maybe, just maybe, that's where that brand of butter originated from?? Get back to me after you've passed Geography 101. Title: Re: Teacher Fired for Magic Trick Post by: bsmooth on May 05, 2008, 08:14:16 pm The school district should be fired for not knowing the difference between "sleight of hand" and "wizardry"

Kids need to learn as well as play.........I don't know anything for sure and am just speculating, but I think that was the problem but the press thought it would sound better this way. Land o Lakes, Florida is not where the butter is made. Title: Re: Teacher Fired for Magic Trick Post by: MaineDolFan on May 06, 2008, 11:57:46 am It's funny - in HS we had a uber hot teacher, Mrs. Van Horn. There were rumors running through the school that she was cheating on her husband with a student (his name was Robert something). Of course everyone thought that there was NO WAY this lankey and pimply HS senior was hitting it with this very hot teacher. I moved to Maine my junior year. The rumors started when this kid in question was a sophomore and continued right up until he graduated.
Wouldn't you know it? Within a year of our graduation she was divorced and re-married...to the student we all heard rumors about! I believe that they are still married to this day. My best friend shacked up with one of my "hot" ex teachers a couple of years after High School ... shortly after her divorce. She was about 28 and he was about 20 at the time. It lasted a couple of years but neither expected it to last. They are still good friends. |
