Title: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on May 08, 2008, 02:27:02 pm http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/565/chrysler-offers-gas-card-as-incentive/;_ylc=X3oDMTE0czZzZjBqBF9TAzI3MTYxNDkEc2VjA2ZwLXRvZGF5BHNsawNnYXMtY2FyZA--
Chrysler is offering a program where if you buy there car you can buy a limited quantity of gas over the next three years at $2.99. However, you give up $2500 rebate. I did the math. In order for you to do better with the gas, the avg cost of gas over the three years would need to exceed $4.93. I don't see gas going down. But $5 within a year and half? Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: Dave Gray on May 08, 2008, 03:02:38 pm I thought the same thing. At that point, if gas is going to be costing you that much, buying a hybrid would save you the most.
Also, I heard from someone that Chrysler is traditional bad on gas mileage anyway. (Not sure if that's true.) Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: Brians Stalker on May 08, 2008, 03:23:41 pm We have a PT Cruiser and the gas mileage is the only thing GOOD about it. :-\
Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: Brian Fein on May 08, 2008, 03:58:00 pm chryslers are among the lowest gas mileage cars on the market right now. My Altima gets mid-20's in the city. I've never seen any Chrysler or Dodge that gets above 20 MPG in the city...
Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: bsfins on May 08, 2008, 03:59:08 pm I have to admit,it's not enough for me to buy a newer vehicle....
My vehicles are paid for,...So now I'd have a Car payment,my insurance would be higher (being now that I have a car payment,it would require full coverage).Would the vehicle really get that much better gas mileage? probably not unless I bought a hybrid..... ***Hijack*** It's interesting this was covered in the most recent episode of Systm,,,They mentioned that ways to save a little green...As in maybe replace your oxygen sensors,if they are old (maybe not bad enough for your car's idiot light to go on) you could be losing gas mileage,Changing your air filter regularly,Change your oil regularly, check the air pressure of tires..and most importantly..watch your driving habits...you lose gas mileage stomping on the accelerator, and stopping hard... They also mentioned about ,after 60 Mph...your car starts losing gas milage....So flying down the road at 80mph...You're losing MPG.... I probably messed that up somehow...Here's the link... http://revision3.com/systm/hypermileage/ (http://revision3.com/systm/hypermileage/) Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Its not enough to make you buy a new vehicle, but if you were in the market for a new vehicle, would it make you look at Chrysler? Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: bsfins on May 08, 2008, 04:14:19 pm I doubt it....Because it's a gimmick....The Dodge/Chrysler products,I own,or have owned aren't as good as my Gm products....IMO...
Gimmick < Quality Also If you read the fine print,on the Dodge website..the little box mentions something about only certain models, and up to 12,000 miles...then it takes you to this link.... http://www.dodge.com/en/refuel/ (http://www.dodge.com/en/refuel/) You have to pay with your debit card,or credit card...I do 90% of my transactions ...in cold hard cash..... Let me also add,I'm talking about trucks, not cars..... Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: Phishfan on May 08, 2008, 07:25:38 pm Mopar sucks. That is all.
Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: BigDaddyFin on May 08, 2008, 11:19:04 pm um people....
Gas is $3.95 in most of NY right now so quit bitching. Title: Re: Gas at $2.99, I doubt it is worth it? Post by: Guru-In-Vegas on May 09, 2008, 03:08:08 am ^ Thats why I got rid of my truck. I was upside-down a few grand but fuck it, I'm getting more than double the gas mileage.
