Title: Do you ride ? Post by: simeon on June 29, 2008, 03:42:57 pm Gas prices keeping going up and up with no relief in sight.
My question to you is, do you ride a motorcycle, scooter, or bike to save on gas ? I own two motorcycles, one is a Kawasaki 454 ltd, we don't use it so I might be selling it soon. I also have a 1998 Harley Davidson FLH Roadking, it's a former police bike. Not that I need an excuse, but the rising gas prices has made it where it gets driven in the rain, which in Maine has been often lately. So what do you ride ? Title: Re: Do you ride ? Post by: Dave Gray on June 29, 2008, 04:03:00 pm I don't ride a motorcycle. I am concerned about their safety. S. Florida is a bad place for old people who don't pay attention on the road, and the last thing I want is road-rash from the tire of some octogenarian blue-hair.

It is unsafe, but it's not the bike itself but majority of time the people around you, like you said. I have a joke with my wife because she rides too, it goes like this. You haven't really gone out for a ride if you weren't almost killed by someone cutting you off.Title: Re: Do you ride ? Post by: MaineDolFan on June 29, 2008, 06:40:59 pm I have a Honda Interceptor VFR. 800cc's of pure bliss. On days that I am not bring Abby to daycare, Maine's on his bike.

Honda makes an excellent bike, my first bike was a 1982 Honda NightHawk 450, I loved thatt bike eventhough it was ugly.Title: Re: Do you ride ? I had a 1984 VF 500 Interceptor when I was in high school. That was the first Interceptor they made. I loved that bike!! I would love to have a bike today but don't think it's worth the risk. My first bike ever was a 1985 Interceptor 700. It was the full ferring bike. I'm pretty sure the plastic was after market, I don't think it came equip off the show room with full ferrin. What a beast that thing was, loved it. Did you see the anniversary edition VFR's?
This is my machine, polished and ready to go. I usually don't have the rear seat cover on but I did for this picture: (http://www.motorcycledaily.com/vfr800.jpg) Title: Re: Do you ride ? Post by: CF DolFan on June 30, 2008, 09:21:34 am Very nice bike Maine!!!
The 700s did not come with a full ferring. I remember the 700s well as my best friend had one. If I rememebr correctly 85 was the first 700 as they were V45s or 750s in 83 and 84. Memories are coming back. I guess 85 was the first 500 Interceptor and not the original Interceptor. Man that seems like a long time ago. |
