Title: Who's left to root for?
Post by: Brian Fein on July 21, 2008, 04:35:53 pm
Seriously?

I'm reminded of the Marlins' firesales, except we didn't win any championships right before.  Rebuilding or not, don't you need a foundation?

So, who do I root for?  Ronnie Brown will always be a favorite of mine.  Ricky Williams will always be a pothead traitor asshole punk.

Joey Porter?

Ted Ginn?

Jay Feeley?

We all have favorite players who we like to see do well.  Every team has the superstar that sells jersies.  Who fills these roles for the Dolphins right now?

I am taking a "wait and see" attitude for choosing a new favorite Dolphin.

We can only hope for somebody to have a breakout year this season. Hopefully that person is the man under center.

i really don't have an answer for this year other than Brown. SOMEONE else will step up to be a big time playmaker this year...it just has to happen.  too bad the OL isn't a glamour position, because i'd really love to buy a satele jersey (ask philly how high i've been on him even before he played a down for us)

Quick answer: Ronnie Brown.  Bottom line is, players come and go.  When Dan Marino left, Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor became the faces of the Miami Dolphins.  Now that Zach and Jason are gone, it's now somebody else's turn to fill that void.

^ I agree.  I wasn't mad he left when Wanndouche was in charge.  Who wouldn't leave a job where you're severely over-worked with NOTHING to show for it.

^^

With nothing to show? Except millions of dollars!

But I digress. Ricky is probably the face of the franchise now.

I think I'm going to be watching line play a lot more closely this season than normally...

Whatever dude.  Read into it whichever way you want.

Nothing to show for it in terms of progress/success for the team.  775 carries in two years and how many playoff wins?

C'mon Brian.   Forgive a little.    Ricky's struggled with some things, but who hasn't?  He's always given 110% on the field, regardless of whatever pressures have caused him to act either unfavorably or in poor decision.  I find it's more rewarding to love him than hate him.

Absolutely!I will always cheer for the Dolphins and if sticky scores a touchdown it will be six points for the fish....period.I don't care if he quit because he wanted to smoke weed, seek spiritual enlightenment, sew socks,or because he was overworked and hated his coach. It was and will always be the WAY he quit for me.He quit right before training camp when all of the free agents were signed when we couldn't draft a replacement, when it left the Dolphins twisting in the wind.He coulda asked for a trade, retired at the end of the previous season(opening the door for us to draft someone else),quit while there were free agents left out there......he could've given some thought to his teammates, but no,the selfish bastard waited until right before training camp to ..."oh well gee...I just really don't wanna play anymore........fuck you miami".......Screw you, ricky,I hope you end up selling parking tickets at Dolphins games,in which case I will drive to the other side of the stadium just so I don't have to see your ugly mug!

But to answer the question....I will root for John Beck and/or Chad Henne,I will root for Jake Long and hope he pancakes some poor defensive lineman,I will root for Ronnie Brown as he makes it all the way back from a serious injury to become one of the elite running backs in the NFL,I will root for a kid like Reagan Mauia as he delivers another crushing block to open up a hole for Ronnie,I will root for Ted Ginn to become a pro bowl receiver,I will root for our suddenly no name defense, that, devoid of superstars, they will gel and come together as one to stop opponents,I will root for Tony Soprano,er,Sparano and Bill Parcells as the new regime who finally, for better or worse, had the balls to come in here and clean house and start from the ground up to rebuild a once proud football orginization,I will root for tradition, the perfect season,Dan the man,Shula,Csonka busting some guy's chops as he gains another yard in the mud,Griese to Warfeild, the Killer "B"s,the Marks brothers,...I will root for the MIAMI DOLPHINS!

Root For Ronnie Brown.  To me, he is One of Miami's best players.  I do hope he remain a Fin.

Hey Landlocked, in a way what Ricky did was good.  He hastened the departures of Dave Wannstedt and Rick Spielman.  If he had not quit in 2004, the Dolphins would've had another 8-8 or 9-7 season and both men would've probably stayed for at least another season.

Exactly my answer. I could give a shit about jerseys because I buy personalized. We should be rooting for the team.
