Title: Parcells quit coaching because of Romo? Post by: DolFan619 on July 21, 2008, 10:41:25 pm http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2008/07/parcells-quit-c.html
Parcells quit coaching because of Romo? Hey guys thought you should check out HBO's Real Sports Tuesday night at 10 p.m. They sent us an advanced transcript and the most interesting tidbit revealed by a relaxed Bill Parcells was that basically Tony Romo's botched hold on the snap that cost the Cowboys the wild card victory over the Seahawks two seasons ago drove him into retirement from the sidelines forever. "We’d just lost to Seattle and I’m flying back,'' Parcells told Andrea Kremer of HBO from his summer home in Saratoga Springs. "I’m sitting up with the pilots, you know, I have a little fear of flying so I ride up in the cockpit. And I said, ‘This is probably going to be my last trip.’ And you just know. You don’t want to go through the whole process again, to get to right where we were. You know? "And all you got to do is kick a field goal, the most elementary of plays, and then you just don’t do it. And so I don’t want to go through that process again. Too much blood.†Parcells said he would never return to the sidelines and that he won't offer any input during games this season. He would however assist the coaching staff earlier in the week, particularly on personnel decisions. He also said he most likely won't be traveling to road games and that he prefers to watch games by himself. The interview was conducted before the Jason Taylor trade. Parcells didn't return my phone call (or anyone else's other than possibly his pal at ESPN Chris Mortensen) Sunday night. Poor Tony Romo gets blamed for lots of stuff. > Posted by hfialkov at 8:22:59 PM |
