Josh McClown.  This guy is flat out awful, he is a career loser, and a colossal failure.  With Beck, you could be able to salvage him and make him a servicable backup.  McClown was a god awful free agent signing!  CUT HIS SORRY, GOOD FOR NOTHING, GARBAGE ASS NOW!!!!

Without a doubt McCown is history before game one, but this is a no confidence vote for Beck and his ablity.

With Pennington just signing an 11 million dollar deal, I expect Beck to get the axe next week. Parcells will keep QB's with winning experience to mentor Henne for the future.

  John Beck.

I voted for McCown, as we don't know if Beck is capable or not.  We know what McCown can do and it's not good enough.

However, I think it will come down to whoever is outperformed in the next two games.

With Beck, you could be able to salvage him and make him a servicable backup.

Beck could be a serviceable backup in the CFL or Arena league...but he isn't "any kind" of NFL QB, starting or backup.

as we don't know if Beck is capable or not.

Some of us do...and Pennington is here because the team does NOT believe Beck is capable of helping them "at all."

So what's your take on McCown then?

Can we cut them both and find another free agent QB?

Parcells and his boys brought McCown in, so they may be reluctant to send him packing before he ever plays a down.   While both have been terrible in camp, McCown has had some success in the NFL, while Beck hasn't.  Beck is a holdover from the previous front office, and I don't think the current staff thinks much of him.

The only thing in Beck's favor is his impact to the salary cap.  He's getting 1M comparied to 3M for McCown.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that Beck gets his walking papers.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA I go with that option best answer yet...

Beyond salary, you have a player that is still very young, and has good accuracy. His style is not much different than Pennington's style. I see Mccown getting shown the door based on the simple age difference.

i voted mccown, just for the simple fact that maybe there is something still there that you can develop in beck vs you know what you got with mcclown... but, something tells me that this regime has seen all it needs to see of beck, and simply believes that henne is their guy of the future.

lets see what beck does in the 2nd half, but man he just hasn't shown absolutely anything that you can point to that makes you believe that he can be a successful nfl qb. i don't buy into the whole "messing up qb's head by throwing them to the wolves to early" theory, but so far it certainly does seem like beck's confidence is shot.

Which one is the young one?  LOL at comparing Beck to Pennington.  Beck couldn't hold Penningtons jock.

I'd hate to say this, but after tonight's game, I wouldn't be surprised if Beck is shown the door...... although with our luck, he'll hook up with another team and start lighting it up.

If anyone watched tonight's game and still think McCown deserves a roster spot, you're on some good shit and should share with the rest of us.

He's terrible.  The question is - does Parcells have the balls to admit when he makes a mistake?

My vote goes to Beck- he is the only guy without connection to Parcells or the new coaching team. I just don't know if Sparano or Parcells are going to want Cam's leftovers...and this is beside the fact that he pretty much sucks...

So... if they "let go" of Beck are we gonna get anything for our high draft choice?

thanks cam! another of your brilliant moves turns to crap. I cant believe that guys got a job as O. co-or.

The new staff seems to like Beck.  I don't buy into this "we didn't draft him so he's the odd-man-out" philosophy.  In that case, you better fire the entire team because 80% of the names on the roster weren't drafted by Parcells.

From what I saw on TV last night, heard on the radio the past week, and read in the newspaper, McCown is miles behind Beck in performance, and has zero up-side.  Parcells and crew will still do "the right thing" for the team, I would hope...

You're half right.  McCown definitely has zero upside.  He's as good as he's going to get, which is not good enough.  However, I wouldn't say he's miles behind Beck in performance.  They've both performed very shitty during training camp practices as well as last night.

McClown I feel will be let go.

Hell Miami Depth chart should look like this at the end of the season

Chad Pennington
John Beck
Chad henne
Quincy Carter (pending he makes the team, Most likely to end up on practice squad)

You can't stick veterans on the practice squad.

Veterans are not eligible to make the practice squad...... and I don't see this team keeping four QBs, regardless of what Sparano might've said last night.

With Pennington on board, they don't need McCown as the "cartetaker/experienced/veteran" presence on the team. Nostradocmus says Pennington will start, Henne will be second team and step in later this season when the fragile Pennington is invariably injured, and Beck will be third string/clipboard carrying/run the scout team/etc.

McCown will be cut loose, and land on another team that has a QB injury or two in the preseason and is in desperate need of a backup.

Did anyone see Brian Griese last night?  He looked pretty good. I bet most of us would love to see that kind of play out of our QBs. I only remind people of that because it seems to be the cool thing to do to pile on Beck and want to send him on his way just like we did Griese.

I think Beck did ok seeing as how he played against a very hungry and outstanding defense. I think Tampa was ranked 2nd last year in total defense and makes a lot of QBs look bad.  I think Henne looked better but then again ... he wasn't playing the starting defense in the 2nd quarter and was playing even less in the third.  I have no excuses for McCown other than he just didn't add anything to the no talents around him.

I think it's really funny how many times I read today that Henne played awesome and Besk sucked balls. Henne got us 6 points with the help of a running game.  I don't think we had that to start the game.

Let's look at stats.

Chad Henne 5 /10  for 67 yards, 50% comp 1 sack  0 TD 0 INT

John Beck   5/9 for 45 yards, 55.6% comp 1 sack 0 TD 0 INT (One incompletion was to avoid a bad play ... great decision)

Not a whole lot of difference even though one played the 1st quarter against starters and the other the 2nd and third against whatever.  I'm not saying Beck rocks and Henne sucks but I am saying that perception is certainly skewed by some underlying issues and not the results of play last night. It's a long preseason so I feel the need to advise som of you to relax.

People may be piling on Beck, but the vote totals speak for themselves.

What does it say that if Beck was cut loose, nobody would take him

I had the pleasure to watch this game on the NFL network today, and to be brutally honest I do not think Beck played well at all. He through little dink and dunks to the fullback where Henne went down the field more. Beck also fumbled the ball but recovered it himself. It is sad to say Becks best play was a 9 yard pass to Ginn. Beck could not and did not move this team. Henne was good but not drop your jaw impressive, his awareness in the pocket was outstanding, where Beck looked rushed and panic. I am expecting McCown to be cut within the next week. To me it makes sense to keep two young QB's and a veteran in Pennington on the team. I do hope Henne keeps showing us progress in the preseason.
