Title: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: Philly Fin Fan on August 28, 2008, 08:38:41 pm Since Dave re-hashed the roll call thread, I figured I'd do the same with the good ol' Things I want lists.
Yeah, yeah, we all want world peace, but what do you REALLY want? Materialistic things only. I''ll go first. The only thing I can think of right now is a new laptop. I bought my wife a new one last Christmas. We have a slightly older desktop which we use for bill paying and storing pictures/music and stuff, and its fine for that. (I have a company provided laptop, but I'm one of those guys who actually follows the company rules and doesn't use it for personal stuff). I'd like a new laptop so I can load some photo editing software and actually do things quickly! Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on August 28, 2008, 08:47:15 pm I provide that list to the north pole. I don't post it online.

The last thing you need is two cats and a dog in an apartment. Don't you want the man to enjoy his life and not have to come home to clean up dog shit and have to walk a dog around a parking lot after a hard day's work? You have the rest of your life to be crazy, just give him 5 years of happiness and no stress. No sense in starting now. Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: Frimp on August 29, 2008, 05:27:58 pm A Nikon D90 or D300. Which kayak were you looking at? I have a yellow Wilderness Outfitters Tarpon 120 that I got this spring. Before that, I was fishing from a little 9 foot Coleman. The Coleman is light and easy to carry, but it has no storage and it's not easy to paddle, especially if there is any wind. I wanted something I could use on our Hill Country rivers, and in the coastal backwaters. The 120 is a good compromise and I'm really happy with it. Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: Lee on September 08, 2008, 11:10:55 am A 24" widescreen LCD monitor This is 22 inches, but the smaller size is overcome by the great price of $189.00 :-) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8718505&type=product&id=1200703079995 Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on September 08, 2008, 11:17:16 am I want my upcoming wedding to go off without a hitch.
Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: Lee on September 08, 2008, 12:06:13 pm Heh, it looks like Fate is on your side Brian.... Woot's deal is also a 22 inch monitor for $169.99

Mine is about 4 years old, which isn't THAT old, but I use it every single day and it's starting to get a little sluggish. I probably can make it last another year or two, especially if I re-format.
I want to wait for Windows 7 to come out, though. It sounds from everything I hear that Vista is going to get left behind, sorta like Windows ME did. Any speculation on if it's worth the wait? Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: MaineDolFan on September 08, 2008, 12:23:32 pm I would love a new snowblower but the one I have now will be fine.
I also want a 2008 World Series Champions Boston Red Sox hat. I'll pick one of those up around Halloween. ;) Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: Sunstroke on September 08, 2008, 01:02:01 pm I also want a 2008 World Series Champions Boston Red Sox hat. I'll pick one of those up around Halloween. ;) After reading this, I immediately thought of those "spoke too soon" misprint championship shirts that were sent to third world nations... I suppose those unfortunate wretches could use some hats as well. ;) Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: MaineDolFan on September 08, 2008, 01:02:49 pm Ah, heck. If I don't get my 2008 edition I guess the 2004 and 2007 will suffice until 2009!
;) Title: Re: Things I want: 2008 edition Post by: bsfins on September 08, 2008, 03:30:09 pm Which kayak were you looking at? I have a yellow Wilderness Outfitters Tarpon 120 that I got this spring. I don't like the "sit on top" ones....I used one alast year on a float trip...It seemd like I would fart, and the Kayak would go one direction, and I'd go the other way.....I do alot of River floating,So Small and Manuverability, plus stability is key for me.... I bought mine from Bass Pro shops right down the road...(the one I never got) Old Town Otter XT Kayaks (except I can't fine the exact one,it had the in back Like the Old Town Dirigo) I don't think I need the XT though, which Since I lost so much weight...(it had a higher weight limit than the Normal otter) The Normal Otters are on sale at Bass pro for like $220...Too bad it's so late in the year... I agree with you about being able to pick it and carry it..The Otter is only like 40 lbs... |
