I don't think Favre will be as good as advertised.  He hasn't had enough time to get his timing down with his new recievers or learn this offense.

jets make a lot of turnovers and come out very sloppy. phins come out sharp and disciplined looking to put last year's nightmare firmly into a distant memory.

Umm, and Pennington has?  Brett > Chad P. Not to mention their recevers are much better than ours. Again, I hope I'm eating my words later.  ;D

I hope so too.  I've got a hot plate of crow waiting for you. 

The one advantage Pennington has is that he knows this defense. 

He also knows the offense.  I am willing to bet Chad has spent some time chatting not only with the OC, but also the DC.  Chad is fully versed in the "new ideas" the Jets had for this season's offense.  Some obviously changed since Brett got there, but I bet not much. 

We just signed a Jets defender - cut Saturday. I think he's probably a good resource on up-to-date defensive info.


Who said anything about Favre being good. I think there's a big chance he'll disappoint this season, but against us...

This game starts the 'Maine might be on to something' talk when it comes to a potential ten win season.

Miami wins larger than people would ever expect, 21-10.

I agree with Maine,I think the Jets are overrated(they weren't a good football team before Favre showed up)and I also think the Dolphins are hungry.

This will be the "I told you that preseason means absolutely nothing" game, which should bring all of you back down to reality.

Since I have no idea what to expect from the Dolphins or the Jets, I wasn't planning to post a prediction.  But last night I had a dream about the game.  It's a little cloudy now, but I think I saw a half time or 3rd quarter score, and the Dolphins were shutting out the Jets.  I believe the score was 21 - 0. 

I don't believe in premonitions, but I thought I would test it by posting my dream preview.   I predict that the Dolphins will have a 21 - 0 lead in the early 3rd quarter and will win the game 24 - 7 (the final score is my extrapolation of the 3rd quarter dream score).

I think we were both pretty evenely Suckie last season, we just had a few more injuries which gave us a few more lost games.

This season both Teams have improved , The Jets took the Free agent Highway and we finally did it through the Draft . Of Course Penny was a free agent Pick up but for the most part we are a way younger Team.  That said They don't have near the running game we have. But I think their defese might be slightly better due to the veteran precense.  Saprano is really new at this as well.

I'll have to join the others and give the Jets the edge.  :-[ :-\ :'(

Chad Henne. Ideal situation? No. But its a heck of alot better then Beck or McCown thats for sure. Peyton Manning started and played like shit his first season......Some QB's are mentally strong enough to handle a rough first outing. 

He might've played like shit, but he had his moments in 1998.  One year later, his team sat atop the NFC East and got a first round bye in the playoffs.

If Chad Henne was one of those, he'd have been a first round pick.

I can see us at the 30 mark but the Jets should be no higher then 25 IMO. The Brett Farve factor isn't that big a deal.

I'm not so sure. You may be right just for the sake of the future,  but McCown was really dogging it out there this summer.  :P  Henne has the most experience of all the rookies drafted playing wise. Parcells might have told him to man up and earn that signing bonus. He does NOT coddle players.

I just can't believe someone would have the balls to give a 4-12 Team 16th ranking becuase of a few Free agent pick ups.  ::)

A few free agent pick-ups?

The Jets were significantly better than us last year. They added Alan Faneca and Damien Woody, improving their offensive line tremendously. That improves their running game directly and their passing game by giving the quarterback more time in the pocket, addressing some key weaknesses. They also added Tony Richardson, one of the best blocking fullbacks in the league (and a big reason why even Chester Taylor averaged 5.4 yards per carry last season for the Vikes. The other major offensive weakness was the lack of a deep threat and they addressed this by bringing in Favre.

On defense their biggest weakness was stopping the run. To address that they added nose tackle Kris Jenkins. Oh, and then they drafted some guy named Gholston.

Their cornerbacks are still fairly weak, but overall they've had some good draft picks the last couple of years. Players like Nick Mangold and D'Brickashaw Ferguson.

There are some questions at receiver and running back, but a better quarterback and a MUCH better line + blocking fullback should provide a big boost. The passing game should also benefit from a couple of new tight ends, Bubba Franks (Packers) and Dustin Keller (taken with the Jets' second first-round pick this year).

All in all, the Jets really looked at all their biggest weakness and upgraded them big time. That certainly brings them from a 25th or so team to around average - i.e. 16th. I'm not sure they've improved enough to get a wild card (8 wins would be my guess), but "mediocre"... sure, they've progressed to that.

If things REALLY come together for them (but I doubt it), they could win 10 games and maybe make it to the conference championships.

Actually saying the Pats record last year was 18-1 is an apperration from the norm.

I have yet to see anyone post the Colts record from last year as 13-4 or the Giants as 11-9.  Or the Pats record from the prior year as 14-5. It is just not done that way.

When you lose as spectacularly as the Pats did.........it can be done no other way....... :D ;D

I am expecting to see it that way from time to time.  I am not bothered by it, but that won't be the way i write it.

I'm probably gonna be kickin' myself in the head for posting a Dolphins prediction here because two seasons ago when I liked to do that, it seemed like they lost every game that I picked them to win, but just because I feel good about this one for some reason (I'm probably just more out of the loop with the team that I normally would be and overly optimistic), I'm gonna post a prediction.
