How close are you to your family?

I'm very, very close to my immediate family -- my parents, my siblings, and their children.  I know and like all of the kids very much.  I enjoy having them around, I'm interested in them, etc.

Growing up, I had a lot of cousins in the mix, but we grew apart.  It's cool to see some of them, when they come into town or stop by, but I don't really keep in touch -- different interests and philosophies on life, I think.

...and some of my cousins who live locally, I'd barely recognize on the street.

Or course, my family is HUGE, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

Mr StL and I are very close with both our immediate families.  My dad's side (11 kids) is very close also.  My mom's side (8 kids) has kind of lost touch with each other.  I see some of them but not very often anymmore.  Mr StL only keeps in contact with one aunt and her 2 kids, but nobody else in his extended family.

My immediate family is quite close. I haven't seen anyone outside of that in over 10 years. My parents and sister have, though. I'm kind of the black sheep.

There is a big age gap with my brothers, sisters and myself...we were close but not really "loving."  Some family illnesses came about, and with sort of a second chance on things, my father decided to take us all on a cruise to the Virgin Islands.  Since then we have all become very close, saying we love each other when we used to not, and actually meaning it too.  To be a sap it really was a touching experience.  My aunts are stupid bitc......nevermind lets just say there are some things you don't say and when you say them it's hard to forgive.

my whole family is REALLY tight.  my parents divorced 12 years ago, but that hasn't really changed anything.  my mom's family is very large, and my dad's family is the largest family you'll ever see.  his father had 11 siblings who each in turn had an average of 4 or 5 themselves.  i have about 300 cousins alone and i know EVERYONE.  his entire family is VERY close. 

however, I myself, am not that close with my parents.  i don't really like them, they're really not that great.  i dont have any siblings either. 

people talk about that intangible bond between family members, but since i'm adopted, i don't feel that.  i have no obligations to be nice to people who don't reciprocate.  now that i've moved to CT, i'd be fine if i didn't talk to them really at all.  i love my stepmom tho, she's the fav. of my 3 parents.

My parents are divorced and hate each other, and used us as pawns in their war against each other. Before then my family was never a " I love you" huggy family.

My family is close. I don't get to see them really except once a year though. We do speak every week.

My entire family is close, more so now with my grandma in the hospital due to a broken hip. 84 years and still going strong, well her eye sights going, she doesn'r move fast. She probably won't be able to live alone anymore, which is what she has been doing for 20+ years.

I don't see my brother very often, he's in San diego. the rest of the clan is in the Northeast.

We all shower together......but then again I live in Tennessee.

I'm really close with my mom and dad. I used to live with my grandmother, but that's over now.

My cousins and I have drifted apart.

My family is really close - except for the segment that seems to be wanting out.  My dad's side, unfortunately, is almost all "gone."  I treasure my family, though, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I am very close to my immediiate family. And with my aunts/cousins it's kind of weird- I don't like/get along wih with most of my dad's sisters or their children and never see them. But I am very close to my dad's mom. My mom's family I am extremely close to though. I don't know if it's because it's smaller, my mom only has 1 sister- and she has 2 daughters so it always felt like we were 1 family-not two. I am still very close to those 2 cousins, still talk on the phone with them all the time- tell them I love them- they feel like 2 more sisters to me. I always went on their vacations with them on the years they didn't go with my parents. And they are closer to me I thnk than they are with my sister or brother. And my aunt loved me so much she even named the younger one after me (my middle name Alicia at least)   ;D

We're pretty tight. Except for a brother who I disowned. I haven't seen in him several years, and could care less.

We're close, but very independent, which leads to us not seeing or hearing from each other for months.  Sadly, all 4 of us kids have my Dad's work ethic, meaning we all work jobs that demand way too much time.  Of course, this means we never see each other, which, thinking of it, really is depressing.  It doesn't help that my parents are in Texas, one of my sisters is in California, and the rest of us are here in S. Florida.

When we DO manage to see each other, it's a party, though.

My Brother,my mom,and I were all close knit....Now it's just my Mom and I ..I don't trust my 2 sisters...

I was a lot closer to them when I was younger.  My kid brother is only a year younger then me so we did all of our growing up together.  I worshiped my dad and my mom and I were close...my sisters used me as a human barbie doll (cut my hair and dressed me up in stupid clothes) so I didn't like them very much!  After my parents split when I was in college and I think my brother resented me for not being there (he was still in High school and living at home).  My mom has changed into someone I don't knw but my dad is still the shit.  My sisters and I are really close and my nephews are the shit.  I also have a slew of cousins that I would not recognize if they came in the room right now.

My immediate family as well as my husbands are close.  My family is in constant contact, and we see my husband's family at least once a month.  I am in close contact with 2 cousins, but we have a family reunion once a year that always has a great turnout and it is always nice to see everyone.  My Dad's family is all in Arkansas and since he is gone now and both of my grandparents are gone, we will probably never see them again.
