Title: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Dave Gray on September 30, 2008, 11:10:44 pm This is where you put your predictions for the Chargers.
In other words, predict the score of the game that hasn't happened yet. Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: StL FinFan on September 30, 2008, 11:17:56 pm ^ I don't understand.
Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Sunstroke on September 30, 2008, 11:18:42 pm Bolts: 34 Phins: 24 Game ball: Anthony Fasano (SD has given up a TD pass to opposing TE in every game this season...and Anthony is going to get 2 of them) Shame of the game: Andre Goodman (Chris Chambers will take his CB extra crispy this week and burn Goodman for 2 or more 30+ yard gainers) Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Brian Fein on September 30, 2008, 11:48:37 pm I'm eager to see what Chambers will do in his frst game back in Miami. I, for one, will cheer for him.
This is my guess (note: not a prediction): San Diego 27 Miami 16 Look for LT to continue his 2-TD-per-game streak, while the Dolphins go to the well too many times on the Wildcat play. Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: simeon on September 30, 2008, 11:49:09 pm Miami 27
SanDiego 26 Ted Ginn shows up late in the fourth Quarter to catch the game winning score. Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Tenshot13 on October 01, 2008, 12:26:25 am Miami - 24
San Dee-a-go...a whale's vagina - 17 I think with the extra week Sparano and the staff have cooked up something for the Chargers...RB's haven't done shit against us since week one....not that Arizona needed to but still....Ronnie seems back to form and the OL seems to be gelling...Joey Porter is playing well and our Rookie DL guys are improving every game....Plus the Chargers are a bunch of underachievers IMO with all the talent they have...then again, they are the Chargers and they might blow us out...but I don't think they will...Just got to watch out for that Cromartie guy...heard he was pretty good ::) Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Frimp on October 01, 2008, 12:48:37 am I will let you know my prediction afer the game. ;)
Seriously, I can't call this one. So, a guess. San Diego 31 Miami 0 ...We whooped them in a playoff game with that score. Picking against the Phins went pretty well for us vs the Patsies. ;D Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Thundergod on October 01, 2008, 02:07:56 am LOL @ Dave and St. L :D
Anyhoo, I PREDICT San Diego 27 Miami 13 Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: StL FinFan on October 01, 2008, 10:28:27 am Since we won a game, I am now on the "we can win" bandwagon. Unless we lose. :P

SD Chargers - 20 Tony Sparano and staff outcoach Norv Turner and SD coaches in this one....Dan Carpenter nails 3 field goals including one in the closing minute of the 4th quarter to win it for the Dolphins!!!! :) Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: bsfins on October 01, 2008, 11:50:18 am Sorry Dom Capers isn't coaching for the Chargers defense...They will make adjustments....Unlike the Patriots...
The Chargers have an offense with a capable QB,Wr's,and Te...Did I mention one of the greatest RB's to strap on the cleats....The Patriots in their current Imclination...don't have all that.... I think Will Allen can Slow chambers,I'm hoping Joey Porter,Channing Crowder,Akin Ayodele, and Mattroth can rape A.Gates before he get's off the line of scrimmage...So who's left that can stop 6'5" Vincent Jackson? and Ladanian Tomlinson? Chargers 27 Dolphins 13 Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Frimp on October 01, 2008, 11:56:38 am Welcome on or off the wagon I guess. WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!Frimp my friend I am deeply heart broken that you believe our team is going to get whipped like this...Are you sure you even want to watch this game? Its reverse psychology. I picked against the Phins vs the Pats. So, I'm hoping it will work again. :) Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: simeon on October 01, 2008, 12:12:32 pm Its reverse psychology. Maybe that is what Ricky is doing, using reverse psychology when talking about smoking pot. :DTitle: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: MaineDolFan on October 01, 2008, 12:21:00 pm Miami finds a way to hold LT in check, mostly.
Miami wins, 34-28. Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Brian Fein on October 01, 2008, 12:47:23 pm I haven't got one prediction right yet. I'm 0-3 on the season.

I see where you are going with this Brian, you are in the same boat with Frimp.I picked the Chargers to win. We will not know for sure who will win until Denver predicts the game. Denver has the worst prediction record known to mankind, so whoever he picks to win the other team will win. Seriously. I know he had all those touchdowns that one year. Which only means that he got a lot of red zone carries. His ypc that year was great at 5.2, except michael turner was at 6.3. His career ypc is 4.5 which is good, but far from the best. This year he is at a poor 3.8 ypc, Sproles should be the one starting. Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Brian Fein on October 01, 2008, 01:53:12 pm Surely you jest. Sproles had one carry that went for 83 yards, that's why his average is inflated. Most players would kill to have a 4.5 ypc average for a career. Who's better?
Bo Jackson - 5.4 Jim Brown - 5.2 Mercury Morris - 5.1 Gale Sayers - 5.0 Barry Sander - 5.0 Napolean Kaufman - 4.9 Frank Gore - 4.9 Tony Nathan - 4.8 Robert Smith - 4.8 Tatum Bell - 4.8 Tiki Barber - 4.7 Brian Westbrook - 4.7 OJ Simpson - 4.7 Fred Taylor - 4.7 Charlie Garner - 4.6 Terrell Davis - 4.6 Priest Holmes - 4.6 Larry Johnson - 4.6 Marion Barber - 4.5 Ahman Green - 4.5 LaDainian Tomnlinson - 4.5 Ronnie Brown - 4.5 Rod Bernstein - 4.5 Freeman McNeil - 4.5 However, he's #17 in Career Rushing yards all time (only Edgerrin James has more among active players) and #3 all time in rushing TD's (behind Marcus Allen and Emmitt Smith, he'll pass Marcus Allen in a couple of weeks). Sure look at YPC but don't look at any other stats and you can easily be mislead. Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: MaineDolFan on October 01, 2008, 01:58:36 pm In related news, Tepop84 has admitted to drinking heavily in the afternoon hours while the rest of the world was working...
Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Tepop84 on October 01, 2008, 02:00:00 pm Surely you jest. Sproles had one carry that went for 83 yards, that's why his average is inflated. Most players would kill to have a 4.5 ypc average for a career. Who's better? Look back to Turner during his time in SD. Yes, 4.5 is a great ypc for a career. But not the "greatest rb to ever cleat up". Also, what is the rule for taking away a rbs good carries to get a real ypc. Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Brian Fein on October 01, 2008, 02:03:38 pm Look back to Turner during his time in SD. Yes, 4.5 is a great ypc for a career. But not the "greatest rb to ever cleat up". Also, what is the rule for taking away a rbs good carries to get a real ypc. When you have 10 carries and one went for 83 yards, even if the rest went for 0, you'll have a 8.3 ypc average. Not rocket science - I'm just saying its not "real".Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: MaineDolFan on October 01, 2008, 02:26:48 pm LT has rushed for 10,946 yards in under eight seasons at 4.5 yards a freakin' clip. He's scored 119 TD's in that time. He's also hauled in 468 passes for 3,433 yards out of the backfield, average of 7.3 a catch, for an additional 14 scores.
What part of those numbers would indicate that this kid is one of the best at his position than we've seen in a long time? Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Guru-In-Vegas on October 01, 2008, 03:17:51 pm SD 28
MIA 17 Chris Chambers is going to light up our shitty secondary. Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: Jim Gray on October 01, 2008, 03:44:34 pm I'm really struggling with a prediction this week. We have played three games and three different Miami Dolphins have shown up.
Who will show up against San Diego? Will it be the conservative, anemic offense of week 1? Maybe the non existent pass defense of week 2? or will we be seeing the juggernaut kick ass Dolphins that played the Pats? I think San Diego is the best team we have played to date, better than their 2 - 2 record. San Diego hasn't played more than a half of any game, and still has scored plenty of points. I just don't see Miami's offense keeping up with them for 4 quarters. Chargers - 27 Dolphins - 19 Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: SCFinfan on October 01, 2008, 04:47:33 pm Phillip Rivers pokes holes in the untrustworthy Dolphins secondary, while Ronnie Brown returns to early 2007 form. Ricky Williams goes down with an injury that will leave him day-to-day for the next few weeks, and Chad Pennington suffers a devestating concussion. Chad Henne throws his first meaningful touchdown in the early 4th quarter to give the Phins the 24-21 lead, but the Chargers kick two field goals and hold the Phins off at the last second to claim the victory.
Chargers 27 Phins 24 Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on October 01, 2008, 04:47:54 pm I can see the Dolphins scoring big on this Charger defense.... but not as much as the Chargers scoring on this Dolphins defense with all the weapons they have.....

Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: ethurst2 on October 01, 2008, 11:20:16 pm I watched the Chargers-Raiders game and I came away NOT being impressed with the Bolts.
Vincent Jackson and Chris Chambers are decent receivers but not playmakers. Jackson still has the drops and even though Chambers has 4 TD's, he disappears during games just like he did here in Miami. Antonio Gates is still dangerous but it looks like he's slower and probably not healed from that toe injury of last year. The center Nick Hardwick isn't even healthy. He got ran over for two sacks and with Hardwick, that's unheard of. The defense is shaky. Jamal Williams, the NT has bad knees and when you lose an All-Pro like Merriman, it's gonna hurt you. In this game, I'll roll the dice and let Chambers and Jackson beat me and bottle up Sproles on Special Teams and Tomlinson. The Raiders were having success throwing to the tight end. That's Miami's strength on offense as far as the passing game. Fasano and Martin can have success if their in the game plan. Miami can beat San Diego IF they contain Sproles on screens and returns. Sproles is the key NOT Tomlinson. Miami 24 San Diego 23 Title: Re: Predictions: Chargers (2008) Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on October 02, 2008, 07:37:25 am Oops...Rick and STL are the optimists too I am an optimist. It's a joke. It's funny. That a few people here and there don't know that dolphins are mammals, well, that's what MAKES it funny. If you're insulted by make fun of other peoples' ignorance, well ;) Even if it weren't funny, I still wouldn't have a problem with it. It's a nickname. Dolphins live in the water. Fish live in the water. It's like calling the Broncos "the Donkeys", but without any of the negative connotation. Same with "the Seagulls". Yeah it is old. I had a t-shirt that said "Squish the Fish" when I was younger. The nickname of fish for Miami has stuck with me since. IIRC it had a picture of Eason stomping an upside down dolphin.
