Title: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: StL FinFan on October 10, 2008, 12:48:27 pm I was wondering why they did not get flagged at the time. :o
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081010/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_dolphins_fined_1 MIAMI - Ronnie Brown and two Miami Dolphins teammates have been fined $10,000 each by the NFL for excessive celebrating. The league said Friday that choreographed celebrations by two or more players aren't permitted. After Brown scored a touchdown Sunday against San Diego, he performed a dance shuffle in the end zone with offensive linemen Vernon Carey and Ikechuku Ndukwe. Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: CF DolFan on October 10, 2008, 12:59:34 pm I can't see them fining them when it wasn't even flagged. Of course ... I thought they would get a flag. I understand the fine for uncalled late hits but for soemthing that isn't dangerous ... i don't get it.

Was there a flag on that play ?Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Phishfan on October 10, 2008, 01:26:38 pm I thought they were going to get a penalty. I hate the No Fun League.
Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Dave Gray on October 10, 2008, 01:31:19 pm I agree with CF. Non-dangerous issues should be handled by the refs, on the field.
Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: fyo on October 10, 2008, 01:59:41 pm Totally lame that they got fined. That's just uncalled for.
I was VERY surprised it didn't draw a flag, though. Ronnie started dancing and some more came over (were they really only three?) and they started doing a clearly rehearsed routine. The second another player "joins" in a celebration, that's usually a flag. And they did it for quite a while, too. I think the reason the League decided to fine them is that they have been talking in the media about how they rehearsed the steps in practice. Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: stinkfish on October 10, 2008, 02:09:17 pm I'm just glad that the Phins have cause to celebrate. :)
Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Sunstroke on October 10, 2008, 02:12:27 pm I was shocked that the official standing right next to them didn't throw the flag on the play... I'm just glad that the Phins have cause to celebrate. :) Stinky wisdom is still wisdom... Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Defense54 on October 10, 2008, 02:14:39 pm Let them enjoy a little success for a change. Give them a warning .........Doesn't hurt Ronnie Brown or Vernon Carey much, they are multi millionaires, But Ikechuku Ndukwe Makes league Minimum. That check is gonna hurt. :P

Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Phishfan on October 10, 2008, 02:39:52 pm I would have rolls of pennies sent to the league office.
Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Brian Fein on October 10, 2008, 02:53:33 pm this is lame. I hate that guys get fined for dancing. So stupid. I think people should be allowed to celebrate all they want, short of directly taunting the opposing team.
If Chad OchoCinco wants to play putt-putt golf with the pilon, fine. If Tony Gonzalez wants to slam-dunk the ball over the crossbar, fine. If Ronnie Brown wants to get the entire team together and to the Electric Slide in the end zone, FINE. Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Sunstroke on October 10, 2008, 02:57:37 pm I would have rolls of pennies sent to the league office. I wonder what would happen if someone ever did this? Is there a general "don't fuck with the commish" clause in Goodell's personal conduct policy? Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: bsmooth on October 10, 2008, 03:39:34 pm I thought it was funny that Long came over to join in and after remembering he had no rhythm he left.

Is there a general "don't fuck with the commish" clause in Goodell's personal conduct policy? If I was a player and Goodell decided to escalate the situation if I sent him rolls of pennies to pay my fine, I'd grab a sack of those penny rolls and smack him over the head with it a few times. We'll see how he stones up after that. Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Sunstroke on October 10, 2008, 03:44:09 pm If I was a player and Goodell decided to escalate the situation if I sent him rolls of pennies to pay my fine, I'd grab a sack of those penny rolls and smack him over the head with it a few times. We'll see how he stones up after that. You have such mad people skillz... Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Phishfan on October 10, 2008, 03:50:38 pm Tommy why do you continually talk about hitting authority figures? It's one thing to make a statement like paying with pennies, but to continually think hitting a ref or the league commishiner would accomplish anything other than getting you banned forever is crazy.
Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Defense54 on October 10, 2008, 04:25:43 pm I thought it was funny that Long came over to join in and after remembering he had no rhythm he left. Another smart decision by the Rookie. I like that. He certainly could afford it though.......... ::) Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Defense54 on October 10, 2008, 04:27:41 pm I believe the money is automatically deducted from the players game check. That's gonna hurt Ikechuku Ndukwe , if Brown wants to seriously be a Team leader he would pay that fine. Lesson learned.

Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: fyo on October 10, 2008, 04:58:06 pm He makes what, $400,000 ? Is that the league minimum? Poor guy. Ndukwe is in his fourth year, so minimum salary is $520k (as of this season). Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: StL FinFan on October 10, 2008, 05:05:21 pm If a $10,000 fine hurts him that badly, he is not managing his money wisely.

Because unlike most people, I'm not afraid of the consequences. Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: Defense54 on October 10, 2008, 07:02:09 pm He makes what, $400,000 ? Is that the league minimum? Poor guy. He makes $370,000 a year. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/palmbeach/miamidolphins/entries/2008/10/10/no_fun_league_nails_ronnie_car.html?cxntfid=blogs_inside_the_dolphins Take out his Agent , taxes, other expenses adds up quickly when living amongst Millionaires. That's almost 4 x what the ordinary Joe Blow makes . So lets divide that bad boy up by 4x. I know I couldn't afford a $2500 fine for something so stupid. could you? I know you guys like to argue with me on everything , and that's cool but you really should think before you speak. ;) Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: StL FinFan on October 10, 2008, 07:06:05 pm Ndukwe is in his fourth year, so minimum salary is $520k (as of this season). God forbid he let his emotions make the best of him, we all know mind set has nothing to do with the game*.........and * Sarcastic ;) Quote c) I still don't feel sorry for him, I got myself and my family to worry about. Then STFU and don't complain ever again about a lack of enthusiasm in the game. Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: DZA on October 11, 2008, 12:58:23 am Fined for dancing , WOW..
The No Fun League needs to chill out Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: bsmooth on October 11, 2008, 01:20:36 am Tommy why do you continually talk about hitting authority figures? It's one thing to make a statement like paying with pennies, but to continually think hitting a ref or the league commishiner would accomplish anything other than getting you banned forever is crazy. Because it is easy to talk mad tough over the internet. Title: Re: 3 Dolphins teammates fined for celebrating Post by: fyo on October 11, 2008, 10:30:36 am a) Which is right? The article Defense linked is correct. The minimum salary for a 4th year player is $520k a year, as I wrote, but since Ndukwe was only on a ROSTER for 4 games in 2005 (incl. offseason) and 2 in 2007, those seasons don't count. It takes a minimum of 6 games on the teams active, inactive, IR or PUP list for the season to count. So, in terms of minimum salary, Ndukwe only has 1 accrued season (even though he first cracked a roster in 2005). The minimum salary for a second year player is $370k.
