Title: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: jtex316 on October 14, 2008, 04:34:35 pm Detroit gets 2009 Cowboys' 1st, 3rd, and 6th round picks for WR Roy Williams. They now have both Roy Williams' in the league.
Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: bsfins on October 14, 2008, 04:39:51 pm Earlier they were reporting it was a pair of 2nd rounders,1 in 2009,and 1 in 2010.....
They just came through and said it was the three picks in next years draft....Still too rich for my blood.... :D Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Brian Fein on October 14, 2008, 04:41:35 pm sets the "going market value" for mediocre wideouts kinda high, doesn't it?
Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on October 14, 2008, 04:52:02 pm Jesus..... they vastly overpaid for him. Now that proposed trade, John Beck for Miles Austin looks more realistic.
Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Sunstroke on October 14, 2008, 05:01:38 pm Dallas got fleeced in this deal, imo...and still no idea why they would even feel the need to go after another WR at this point. If they had overpaid for a defensive back, no problem...or a better vet QB to cover for Romo, but overpaying for Roy when they already have TO, Crayton, Miles Austin, Jason Witten, et al as targets makes no sense whatsoever. Especially because Romo's gonna miss at least four games. What good are receivers if you don't have a QB who can get them the ball? Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Brian Fein on October 14, 2008, 05:39:12 pm What good are receivers if you don't have a QB who can get them the ball? you should apply this sentence to the dolphinsTitle: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on October 14, 2008, 05:41:36 pm you should apply this sentence to the dolphins Wrong. Pennington can get his receivers the ball. Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Rick on October 14, 2008, 06:08:01 pm Jerry Jones must have been drinking with the pacman when he made this trade...great deal for the Detroit Lions.
Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Philly Fin Fan on October 14, 2008, 06:18:41 pm Wrong. Pennington can get his receivers the ball. As long as they are hanging out about 5 yards away from the LOS. Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Tenshot13 on October 14, 2008, 06:20:47 pm I didn't know the Cowboys hired Mike Millan...everyone knows a team can't have enough WR's ::)
Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Tepop84 on October 14, 2008, 06:29:39 pm As long as they are hanging out about 5 yards away from the LOS. LOL. I feel like a hypocrite for making fun of Jets fans for their stupid comments when we have just as many dumb dolphin fans. I feel like a hypocrite for making fun of Jets fans for their stupid comments when we have just as many dumb dolphin fans. Thanks for calling me dumb. Nothing like resorting to name calling to get your point across. Its amazing. When Pennington was with the Jets, everyone used to make fun of his arm strength and say he had none. Now all of the sudden, because he's a Fin, people want to say he has great arm strength. I admire his leadership and think it was a wise pick up, but come on. Lets call a spade a spade. What more do you want from the guy this year? 94/137 for 1100 yards w/ only 2 interceptions. Do you want Brett Favre and his really hard passes into the defenses hands. I'm counting the days for when Henne is ready to take over this team...Pennington is a nice band-aid right now for the QB position, but I'll never really like him because of his weak arm and being a stinkin' Jet. Lions fans finally have somthing to look forward to.

Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Defense54 on October 15, 2008, 07:23:06 am Pennington might not throw bombs but he is the most accurate passer ever in the NFL. Look what he has done with this sad sad cast of receivers. Can you imagine him next year with a few decent draft picks and a free agent or 2?
He's smart and makes good decisions. I'll take that over a perfect physical specimen who doesn't know his ass from his elbow any-day of the week. Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on October 16, 2008, 07:34:37 am So with Roy Williams in the fold, what does this do for Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin?

Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Brian Fein on October 16, 2008, 12:09:40 pm Pennington might not throw bombs but he is the most accurate passer ever in the NFL. Wow - spin much? Pennington isn't even the most accurate passer THIS YEAR. Completion Percentage, 2008 season: Brett Favre - 71.3% Drew Brees - 71.0% Kurt Warner - 69.9% Chad Pennington - 68.6% Take it a step farther: Yards per completion, 2008 season Philip Rivers - 14.6 Tony Romo - 13.2 JT O'Sullivan - 13.0 Gus Frerotte - 12.7 Jake Delhomme - 12.6 Drew Brees - 12.5 Matt Ryan - 12.5 JaMarcus Russell - 12.3 Ben Roethlisberger - 12.2 Eli Manning - 12.0 Aaron Rodgers - 11.9 Chad Pennington - 11.7 Trent Edwards - 11.7 Pennington is 12th in the league in yards per completion. He doesn't exactly fling the ball down the field with those kinds of numbers. Edit to add - Pennington being #1 in completion percentage doesn't mean much IMO if Jamie Martin is #2 on that list, by 0.2% Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Tepop84 on October 16, 2008, 12:29:07 pm Wow - spin much? Pretty stupid to say that he can't get the receivers the ball. Also pretty impressive in your completion percentage stats, the 3 people ahead of pennington have 6,6,and 5 interceptions where CP only has 2. Maybe I had the Stat wrong but he was #1.......I thought it was passing percentage? ??? Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Rick on October 16, 2008, 02:42:09 pm ^^^ You were right....Chad Pennington is the NFL's All-time best QB when it comes to completion percentage with a 65.3% completion rate.
Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Brian Fein on October 16, 2008, 02:43:01 pm you're right, he is number one all-time in passing percentage over his career, but not by much. However, the stat I saw during the game was comparing passer rating vs previous DOLPHINS QB's.
What does Chad Pennington have to do with Roy Williams? Title: Re: Roy Williams (WR) traded to Cowboys Post by: Phishfan on October 16, 2008, 03:09:16 pm What does Chad Pennington have to do with Roy Williams? Not quite the exact words I was going to use, but right in line with them. |
