This is a good interview.  I can't understand why he's not on the field.

What is the sound of one hand clapping?  If a tree falls in the forest with no one around, will it make a sound?  Why the hell isn't Jason Allen on the field?

Like ethurst said in another thread, it's because he's got that "loner" personality and doesn't put forth extra effort.  He does his game film study on his own time.  Practice is over at 4?   He's on his way home by 4:05. 

You know this how?  Who gives a crap who he watches game film with?  What does a guy's going-home-time have to do with his ability to play better football than the bums on the field now?  Maybe if he ever got playing time, he'd be more motivated to put more work in.

I didn't say I agree with it, but that's how it is.  Ethurst has inside connections to the Dolphins, as does Phinatic.  I'm sure Phinatic can confirm that as well. 

  I know that they've been working Jason Allen at CB, for the past couple of weeks.  Given the current situation in the secondary, he can't be any worse than what's already back there.

I was reading posts ( I don't hardly post anymore because of time constraints) but I did come across Tommys' post about a statement that I made about Jason Allen and I want to clear up what I said back in September.

I've always been a big fan of Jason Allen. I wasn't knocking Allen by saying he's a 9-5 football player. Not all guys are made to sleep out at the Davie facility. Zach Thomas was a guy that stayed for 15 hours because his study helped make up for his lack of height, etc. So when you are lacking in one area, you choose other areas to balance yourself out.

Me and Stroke was kinda of into a pro-con deal about J. Allen. Stroke said that if he was worth his money, he would be on the field. My argument was that sometimes, a player is so talented until they APPEAR in practice that they aren't giving any effort (see Ronnie Brown). I told him that from guys that I know that are close to the team that some players think he's too quiet, too much of a loner and hangs by himself a lot. You can say that he has the Ricky Williams personality on the defense minus the weed and the philosophy.

Thus, the coaching staff thinks their loafing. He's not a rah-rah type of guy OFF the field. A lot of it is his upbringing if you listen to Omar Kelly's interview of him in the Sun-Sentinel.

As far as the coaching staff, to me, Sparano can be graded at the end of the year. He is a rookie coach and he may have some dregs on his staff. I do commend Parcells for being low-profile because that helps people identify the team with Sparano and not Tuna. I didn't think he could do it but he's doing it so far.

By the way, this is Allens salary breakdown. Clauses are in the other bonus section and the NFL leaves that up to a team to reveal percentages.

No, Nick Saban did not miss on Jason Allen. The problem was that the defensive coaches DID NOT KNOW where to place Jason Allen at and probably thought that since he was either a poor practice player or had a quiet personality, that he did not care at all.

Instead of Saban and Capers simplifying the secondary calls, they kept them on a level that would give a six year veteran problems. Everyone struggled with the exception of Travis Daniels who knew the system until he got hurt.

But when Allen is inserted into a game, he's always around the ball. I can only think of two bad games that he's had but that was because you had an awful defense trying to be sophisticated when they didn't have the talent. Even with Joey Porter back in his natural position, he's effective.

Saban and Cameron really misread Jason Allen and it has taken Sparano seven games to realize that he can be a playmaker with Yeremiah Bell beside him helping him with the calls because Bell is smart. This is what I like about Sparano. He'll eventually play you if you hang in there (expect Ernest Wilford to break out next).

I hope that Allen continues to play like a first rounder and disrupt things. Kudos to him for not getting upset and going public about not playing.

Good call. I thought Jason played well against the Bills. Stats have him as our leading tackler (tied with Porter if you count sacks). 

Jason Allen also forced the Robert Royal fumble near the end of the game.
