Title: Miami Dolphins release Chris Crocker, re-sign Ty Culver.. Post by: Rick on October 21, 2008, 05:30:56 pm Miami Dolphins release Chris Crocker, re-sign Tyrone Culver
By Omar Kelly | Sun-Sentinel.com 4:53 PM EDT, October 21, 2008 The Dolphins have swapped out safeties, cutting six-year veteran Chris Crocker on Tuesday and replacing him with Tyrone Culver, who was released last week. Crocker, who started at free safety for the first two games of this season, contributed 10 tackles and broke up one pass in the six games he played. He was responsible for two critical breakdowns in the Dolphins' first two losses, which resulted in touchdowns. From that point Renaldo Hill replaced him as the team's starting free safety. Crocker signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in March worth $1.15 million with $300,000 of it guaranteed. His release opens up a spot in the Dolphins' dime package, which cornerbacks Jason Allen and Nate Jones, and Culver will likely compete for. Culver first joined the Dolphins in September when the Packers' 2006 sixth-round pick was claimed off the waiver wire. He spent the first five games primarily contributing on special teams, recording six tackles. Last week he was waived to make room for safety Brannon Condren, who contributed one special teams tackle in his debut as a Dolphin. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-dolmoves102108,0,4679466.story (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-dolmoves102108,0,4679466.story) Title: Re: Miami Dolphins release Chris Crocker, re-sign Ty Culver.. If they do not like Allen then why are they keeping him? Now, they have cut the player that many thought they forced into the starting spot ahead of a him. Guess all that film study did not help Crocker. Title: Re: Miami Dolphins release Chris Crocker, re-sign Ty Culver.. Post by: Defense54 on October 23, 2008, 12:38:17 pm I'm just happy they are still trying to win and not thinking about next year or the year after. Last Years Admin would have sold Porter for a 3 rounder last week............... ::)
To the Patriots............... Title: Re: Miami Dolphins release Chris Crocker, re-sign Ty Culver.. Post by: NADS on October 23, 2008, 05:37:45 pm Good move by Fins. Crocker always seemed to be out of position. MARSHALL THUNDERING TURD PRIDE! All this talk about S has even got me wondering why Jason Allen isn't at least playing if not starting.

Our two key free agent acquisitions this past offseason were a receiver who can't get open (Wilford), and a free safety who lets everybody get open (Crocker)

Our two key free agent acquisitions this past offseason were a receiver who can't get open (Wilford), and a free safety who lets everybody get open (Crocker) I wouldn't exactly call Crocker a "key" aquisition. He was brought in on a one year deal because he was familier with Coach Bowles scheme when he was in Cleveland. Problem was despite Crocker's knowledge of the scheme, he lacks this little thing called "talent." Crocker sucked, and belongs in the unemployment line. |
