Title: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: JoblessJayFiedler on October 22, 2008, 10:22:09 pm If I ever saw something like this in my backyard I would move to California!
This is an Australian Orb Weaver spider. They can grow up to the size of a human hand and the one in this picture is eating a bird it caught in its web!!!! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=&xml=/earth/2008/10/22/easpider122.xml Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: stinkfish on October 22, 2008, 11:12:53 pm I hate spiders. They're super scary. Especially this one. Yuck.
Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: Frimp on October 22, 2008, 11:39:28 pm I like orb spiders. Florida's banana spiders are orbs. Here's a photo I took of a cousin of the banana spider, and the one's like that huge one in Australia...

Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: Dave Gray on October 23, 2008, 12:14:54 pm I love nature and all that, but big spiders like that give me the fuckin' creeps.
These camel spiders are especially grotesque. They can grow as large as a dinner plate. (http://www.camelspiders.net/large-camel-spider.jpg) Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on October 23, 2008, 12:18:55 pm ^^^^^

Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: VidKid on October 23, 2008, 11:02:07 pm I'm not a big fan of the spiders. They freak me out. I saw a couple variations of the banana spider in NC. Things were huge.

Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: GUATARICCAN on October 24, 2008, 12:34:47 am That picture of the soldiers holding the camel spider is actually two spiders. the biggest camel spiders found were about six inches or so. So unfortunately the pic is real but it's two spiders, the bottom one is bitting the top ones ass. How do I know this you ask? Monsterquest on Histroy channel. yesterdays episode was actually on giant spiders. And last time I checked arachnids only have 8 legs. ;D
Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: GUATARICCAN on October 24, 2008, 12:39:12 am Spiders are welcome in my backyard..... they eat mosquitoes. Hopefully the spider doesn't eat your supper or you may have to eat his mosquitos just to teach him a lesson! :D Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on October 24, 2008, 07:15:22 am Hopefully the spider doesn't eat your supper or you may have to eat his mosquitos just to teach him a lesson! :D LMFAO!!!! They're still friggin' gigantic.
A 6" span is REALLY big. Title: Re: Golden Orb Weaver Spider Post by: Sunstroke on October 24, 2008, 02:15:29 pm I used to have tarantulas as a kid...a big spider or two doesn't bother me so much. Thousands of itty bitty spiders? That freaks me out a whooooole lot more. |
