Title: Above .500 Post by: sciotto on November 09, 2008, 04:58:03 pm This is the first time since the end of '05 the Fins have been above .500. They were 8-7 after beating Tennessee 24-10 and closed it out with a garbage win, 28-26 over New England.
Don't make us wait three more years to get here again. I said when the season started I'd be happy with 5 wins and ecstatic with 8. I MAY end up more than ecstatic. It was a nail biter, but this is an inexperienced team learning how to win. Tuna has put his stamp on this team, especially with the ball control drive that was sealed with Ronnie's TD. GO FINS! Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: Tenshot13 on November 09, 2008, 05:02:19 pm ^ Rock on phins...10 wins doesn't seem so unreasonable now does it?
side note: Shannon Sharpe picked us to win the division Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on November 09, 2008, 05:03:17 pm ^^^^
You're right Tenshot, it sure doesn't. Three years to sport a winning record is a long time. Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: doctord56 on November 09, 2008, 05:07:44 pm I'll bet Sciotto, with his savant like Rainman abilities, can reel off the score of every Miami vs Seattle game in history from memory.
And it's great to be above .500, but let's not get carried away. The Dolphins barely beat a bad Seattle team with a gimpy QB and butter fingered receivers at home. It's a win, granted, and I'm happy to have it, but they didn't look like a playoff caliber team today. The Dolphins are way ahead of where I'd thought they'd be, but 10 wins seems like a stretch. You're right that we barely beat a horrible Seattle team...but look at our division...We have the ability to beat all of them, plus our remaining schedule is favorable for us. Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: DZA on November 09, 2008, 07:12:03 pm I had to cross my fingers on the seattle win. I was sure Miami was going to beat the bricks off them(seahawks) but it goes to show you , know matter how bad a team is, that every given sunday you have to come out and play ball. The next couple of games look cake but it is not for sure the Fins will go on a tear .
Lets see- 5-4 Projected W-L Oakland - W - Oakland looks like shit NE - L - Counting on the Pats to not be suprised by the Wildcat again @STL - W- see my oakland comment @BUF - L- Buffalo will bring it SF -W- this game my go either way, but im taking the Fins @KC -W- once again see my oakland comment @NYJ -W- Hopefully the Fins will put Brett on his ass this time. 10- 6 better that the 6-10 i projected at the beginning of the season. Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on November 09, 2008, 07:55:56 pm Granted, it was an ugly win. We let a crappy team back in the game with that pick 6, and let them hang around the entire time afterwards.
But, this also shows how far this team has come. Last years Cam Camoron led team would've found a way to lose this game, prompting Camoron to come up with another excuse. Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: Kid Dynamite on November 09, 2008, 08:17:36 pm Crappy win but it shows that this team is finding ways to win. Last year this would have been in the lose column.
Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: Defense54 on November 09, 2008, 08:46:00 pm Never judge a team by its record. If not for those receivers dropping those balls on Seattle........this could have been a different scenario. I'll take it though!
Go Miami!! ;D Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 09, 2008, 09:03:17 pm Never judge a team by its record. did you even read your autosig? Quote "You are what your record says you are." Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: Frimp on November 09, 2008, 09:23:28 pm ^^
Bravo, Hoodie! Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: BigDaddyFin on November 09, 2008, 09:43:08 pm The last time we had a winning record 9 games into the season was 2003. I figured anywhere between 6-8 wins for the team this year but it looks like we may eclipse that before the middle of December.
If the Dolphins want to get into the playoffs they need at least 6 more wins in 7 games. Baltimore owns the tiebreaker over us and I'm sure the way their defense is playing they'll get to 11-5 which would make us the 6 seed assuming we can't win the division of course. Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on November 09, 2008, 09:54:52 pm Man, Defense, you contradict yourself a lot. Way to go Hoodie!!! ;D ;D

I can't even understand half of things he says. Amen! That said, I'd pay good money to watch Shannon Sharpe and Emmitt Smith do a tag-team public reading of anything by Dr. Seuss. Horton Hears a Who! or The Butter Battle Book would be insanely entertaining... I had a sizable (for me) chunk of money on the Ravens this week. I can't believe they were UNDERDOGS against the hapless Texans. Baltimore is probably the most underrated team in the NFL. The game against the Giants next week will be interesting. Clearly, if they win it outright, people will start to notice. Personally, I'll settle for them covering ;) As for Baltimore winning their division - or even winding up with more wins that us - I'm not so sure. Even though I believe they're a very good team, they have a MONSTER of a schedule: @NYG, PHI, @CIN, WAS, PIT, @DAL, Still, as you say, they own the tiebreaker over us, so they appear to have the inside track on the first Wild Card. The other one, though, is completely up for grabs and IF we could wind up second in our division (which I would consider... optimistic), I don't see any reason why we couldn't grab it. I don't expect us to make the playoffs, but just being able to sit here and discuss the possibility in mid-November is way beyond my expectations for this season! If you look at our division, the Jets have 3 really tough games coming up (@NE, @TEN and DEN). It wouldn't be COMPLETELY unrealistic for the Jets and Dolphins to both be 9-6 going into the last week (we have very winnable games against the Raiders, Rams, 49ers and Chiefs). That would make for one hell of a week 17 game in New York for second place in the AFC East - and possibly a Wild Card (although that would require the Colts and/or Ravens to stumble). ~Greg Camarillo in the Dolphins locker room after yesterday's game. That pretty much sums it up. But like BP says you are what your record says you are. The never judge a team by its record comment was just silly. And give your auto sig, absolutely hilarious. Maine said in FEBRUARY that we would be a 9-7 or 10-6 team. And he's going to be RIGHT! (hey...even a busted ass clock is right twice a day...) Our next 7 games are @STL, @KC, @NYJ, @BUF, NE, OAK, and SF. If we wind up with the same record as BAL, they deserve to get in over us. Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: raptorsfan29 on November 10, 2008, 06:07:39 pm Ha! Maine said in FEBRUARY that we would be a 9-7 or 10-6 team. And he's going to be RIGHT! Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: Tenshot13 on November 10, 2008, 06:25:13 pm ^ I didn't join the site until July/August but I said it then too...I know at least Hoodie was paying attention ;D

I don't want some Pats fan running into Chad Penniton of Porter like they did to Zack last year............ ::) There are quite a bit of classless Pats and Jets fans here in Orlando. When they saw me and my group cheering for the Dolphins at the Ale House yesterday, they began cheering for the Seahawks just to get a reaction out of us. Boy did they ever get a tongue lashing when the 2 point conversion was broken up and Wallace's final pass fell incomplete. I was all up in their faces. Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: Defense54 on November 10, 2008, 10:10:42 pm 47-3..........Jets fans were not exactly bummed out. God I hate that team. >:D
Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: Doc-phin on November 11, 2008, 11:07:37 am If Shannon Sharpe picked us to win the division we are totally screwed!!!
If anyone has satallite radio they know that he has the worst luck with his picks. I love listening to the guy, but this year has not been a good year for his predictive abilities. Title: Re: Above .500 Post by: Tepop84 on November 11, 2008, 02:10:25 pm It is great that they are winning all these games this year, but I would say it is mostly because of their weak schedule. They really need to improve this offseason so that they can win against anybody. I hope they aren't like the Browns are this year with a winning record last year because of a weak schedule and then back down to earth this year when they have an average schedule.
