I would dress as comfortably as possible. Maybe not to the extent of Bilichick, but maybe so.

I'd go the other way.  I'd wear a suit if the weather was nice.  I think that's pimp when coaches do that.

I can't stand it personally. I don't like the suit and tie mentality. Too stiff and rigid. If I had to go a bit deeper, it gives me the impression that they are too conservative all the way down to game planning. I would be more of a loose and free let's throw the kitchen sink at them type of coach so I would dress the part.

I didn't mind the Buisness casual look that Don Shula and Saban wore.  But  as a head coach I think a buisness suit commands respect on game day. It shows you mean buisness . You don't see that enough anymore. I miss the Tom Landry days.

But the Bill Belichick and Tony Sprano look is sad.  With Sprano its obvious he is trying to hide his weight problem.  If its that much of a problem then you need to do something about it. He is surronded by some of the best nutritionists and Trainers in the world! Take advantage of it!

I like the business suit look...on other coaches.

I'd go more along the business casual with khakis and polo if I had to be a HC though...it gets hot as hell on some fields, and a fella could roast in a suit.

I'd wear a see through speedo with nipple clamps.  Every time my defense gave up a touchdown I would have my assistant pull on the chain.

Depends on where I am.  I like the khakis and polo look, but I also like the "running suit" look when the weather is cooler.  Nylon jacket and matching nylon pants. 

That is a good point. I'll change my vote to Dress Casual. But a suit once and a while wouldn't hurt.  I might make a deal with my players..........I'll wear a suit as long as you win. Lose and I'm gonna represent like a bum.

I'm with Phish, I'd dress comfortable. So casual for me. Though I could do business casual. Business just looks so damn uncomfortable. Unless it's a requirement, I don't see why ANY coach does it, including NHL/NBA.

I'd go with the business casual look (but with the pant legs rolled up like Joe Pa). Someone mentioned heat, but also keep in mind rain. If you are on a rainy field, its pretty muddy. It would suck to be wearing a suit in that weather. I'd sport a suit maybe once or twice a year.


Along the same lines- I remember reading a story a short while ago that had something to do with the NFL signing a licensing agreement with some fancy company to provide suits for coaches for travelling and appearances. The article said that the agreement was with 31 of the NFL coaches. Guess who was the one exemption? It kind of amazed me that the NFL Coaches Club would allow him to just blow it off. I'll try to find a link to the story.

He was as ass of major proportions.........but damn he looked good doing it! Sprano looks like a little weeble with a Tarp.

In the comments section it says Ole Bill is not a member of the Coaches Club. It makes comment that he does not appear by name in video games because of this. Anyone know if this is true?

Thats true.

It is not that BB specifically blew off the suit deal.  31 of the coaches are in a trade association.  The suit deal was with the trade association. Same deal with the Madden contract.

BTW Not too long ago there was two outsiders Bill Parcells also opted out. 

I like the suit look for the head coach, but only if you're not a play caller.  It also depends on the relationship you have with the players.  I think I'd go a couple of games in the suit, and the rest in tracksuit polo shirt combo a sort of smart casual/sport look.

But then that's just me, I am the very definition of style.

Yes, I said that in my original statement as well-

I voted for Suit and Tie. 

If I coached in Miami and it was 100 degrees, I might wear the occasional Polo and Khaki's.

However I would repeatedly piss the NFL off by wearing a non-approved suit, and would try to avoid having any logos on my polo or khakis.  I might however go for a team logo hat to go with my polo and khakis but I would probably stick with my orange Miami Dolphin hat, the one with the aqua block letters from right out of 1978.

I would also probably get fired or banned from pro football for telling the Commisioner what a moron he is and would make a point to openly criticize the officiating whether we won or not.  I'm sure I would at least be some level of fun for the beat writers, but would probably be a headache for the owner and not last a full season or retire in the hole to the NFL the first time I take a swing at a ref.

You would not get away with that for long.

The story as I understand BB's gray hoodie: BB use to dress like most coaches, but never put a ton of thought into it.

During one game BB not realizing it, wore an item that had been on the prior year's "approved list" but had since been discontinued.  He was not trying to make a statement or anything he just put on last years clothing.  He learned of his apparel mistake in a scathing letter from the league. 

In response he went into the pro-shop asked what was the ugliest thing that nobody liked and nobody ever bought.   

Bill Bilichik can move items with his mind.

Hoodie I would purposely do it and pay the fine because as I understand it the only suits the league approves are ones made by Reebok and there's a limit as to how many games you can wear one.  If that rule has changed then the league I'm sure would still fine me for my mouth.  I can get a better suit than Jack Del Rio's off the rack at any department store or S & K.  Reebok makes shoes and they should stick to it. 

  I voted Polo shirt and khakis.  Although, I would much prefer wearing jeans.
