Title: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: dolphins4life on November 23, 2008, 04:14:25 pm The entire defense. What a awful performance
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: DolFan619 on November 23, 2008, 04:21:20 pm Defensive Coordinator Paul Pasqualoni clearly did not prepare this defense at all for this game. Absolutely atrocious defensive play.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: Thundergod on November 23, 2008, 04:38:19 pm Pasqualoni. Pathetic display of what's supposed to be called a defense. Fuckin pathetic.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on November 23, 2008, 05:03:38 pm I'm giving my Shame of the Game to secondary coach Todd Bowles. While the run defense did ok, the secondary got torched for over 400 yards by Matt Cassel (MATT CASSEL??)
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: StL FinFan on November 23, 2008, 05:11:00 pm the secondary, seriously, the run defense is not what killed them today
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: stinkfish on November 23, 2008, 05:52:23 pm The DB unit. Losers.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: Phishfan on November 23, 2008, 06:13:22 pm I have some aloe in case Jason Allen needs it from getting torched today.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: CF DolFan on November 23, 2008, 06:46:36 pm I actually thought Jason Allen did OK considering he spent much of the game 1on1 with quite possibly the best reciever to ever play the game.
Our run defense looked good only because we couldn't stop the pass. Actually they didn't look good at all. New England averaged 4.7 yards per carry. Our defense looked totally outmatched all the way around. New England killed our defense. They dared us to beat them with our passing game and we failed to play the 4th quarter. Our special teams was the only consistant we had today. I give shame to offense and defense. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: Pats2006 on November 23, 2008, 06:51:35 pm Your kicker. It doesn't help getting us the ball on the 40 yard line on every kick off. What was that all about?

The "best receiver to ever play the game"?? You have GOT to be shitting me. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: fyo on November 24, 2008, 11:10:53 am I've gotta go with the guy who came up with the defensive game plan, so probably Pasqualoni.
Jason Allen 1-on-1 with Moss... not a good plan and when it blew up, there was no (apparent) attempt to adapt. Almost everything went wrong in this game, right from the game prep. The expectation was (according to players after the game) that New England would run the ball and protect Cassel. What? Didn't they get tape from last week's Jets game? Cassel 400 yards. Anyone who's even seen the highlights of the Patriots' games would know that Cassel has been entrusted to do more and more every week. Sure, they aren't about to force him to pass when the running game is working, but the problem in Miami has been stopping the passing game, not the running game. What did they expect New England to do? Deviate from their trend of giving Cassel more to do each week? Attack the strongest aspect of our defense? The only real weakness in our run D has been runs at left defensive end (Langford, although it has as much to do with the linebacker support in the 3-4). Bad coaching, bad play... just not a good game. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: CF DolFan on November 24, 2008, 11:33:33 am The "best receiver to ever play the game"?? Jason Allen 1-on-1 with Moss... not a good plan and when it blew up, there was no (apparent) attempt to adapt. Bad coaching, bad play... just not a good game. Good call on the game plan. Though our DBs have played better I think we all know they can't handle top-notch receivers like Moss and Welker or Fitzgerald and Boldin. I like to trash Renaldo Hill though he did have a pick. He should have racked Moss instead of going for the strip on one of the TDs which begs the question of whether he was supposed to be helping J. Allen over the top in the first place. We are one safety short. How about the call to send W. Allen on the CB blitz two plays in a row. Worked the first time, big play for Pats the next. Say what you want Tommy, but Moss is one of the best when he wants to be and this game he wanted. I like Ronnie Brown but expected more from him this game Wildcat or not. He gets second place. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: BigDaddyFin on November 25, 2008, 10:23:50 pm Co Shame of the games to Dan Henning, for not running the football more than 20 times and keep Matt Cassel and Randy Moss off the field, and Paul Pasqualoni for not having a pass defense and then making the same mistakes as what cost us the Houston Texans game. We didn't leave anyone in the middle, Shaub saw it took off and scored the winning touchdown. We then did the same thing against Cassel, same result, and then Sammy Morris scored from the 10 on a similar run when we left no one in the middle again.
Our guys were ready to play, and in an important game we fell short, not because of lack of effort or desire but because of lack of brains. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on November 26, 2008, 08:45:43 am Does this even deserve a response? Yes it does. What makes you think Randy Moss is the best receiver to ever play the game?? There are some receivers out there who were way better than Moss will ever be..... and who conducted themselves with class. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Patriots Post by: CF DolFan on November 26, 2008, 08:51:23 am Yes it does. What makes you think Randy Moss is the best receiver to ever play the game?? Quite possibly .. arguably ... one of ... it doesn't really matter how you say it. Randy is one of the best to have ever played and I don't even like the guy. It's kind of like you saying the Gators are a shitty football team. It makes absolutely no sense. So you're lumping Randy Moss in with a group that includes Lynn Swann, Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, and of course, the Marks Brothers. I don't think Moss can carry any of those guys jocks. He's proven in Oakland and early this season that he's nothing without someone who can get him the ball. Plus, he's got a bad attitude, something the players up above never had. I don't know how he stacks up to guys like Warfield, since I didn't get to see them play, but he's quite possibly the best of my lifetime, with only Jerry Rice giving him a run for his money. CF is absolutely right. Moss is, without question, in the top 5. ....most likely in the top 2. ....and arguably at #1. Moss may be one of the top if not the top receivers skill wise to have ever played the game. But doesn't aways give a 100% the way a player like Welker does. He has not put as much heart into the game this year as he did last year. I don't know if that is b/c of Cassel vs. Brady or if it is b/c last year he was playing for a contract, but I don't like it. |
