If the bandwagon jumpers do mess with me, I usually do what USO did, test them and mess with 'em. To me, if you are humble you should just laugh to yourself and walk away when someone of "less football knowledge" makes a dumb comment rather than feel the need to argue or school them. It's use in English almost certainly stems from fencing where it's used to indicate, shocker, a touch (hit). (to say "I've been touched" you'd have to say something like "J'ai été touché", although my French grammar sucks). |
