Title: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: bsfins on February 25, 2009, 01:36:38 pm Today I had a meeting where we met with a woman (around 50yrs old),who supposedly had an alibi for our client…It was an associate lawyer (his case) a paralegal and myself …In a ten to fifteen minute interview she said “ He’s a good kid:, “He’s really a good kid†“ he just got in with the wrong crowd†Minimum of 20 times….As we were walking out, the paralegal burst into laughter, and asked me boy she really got under your skin, near the end you were flaring your nostrils at her like a dog ready to pounce….She asked me, what it was, I said He’s 21 years old and since turning 18 he’s got 2 burglary charges, and an robbery charged, and spent 7 months in county…Now’s being accused of attempted rape…Yeah he’s a good kid…
What saying or phrase do you hate, or makes you cringe when hearing it? Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: BoSoxGrl on February 25, 2009, 02:00:46 pm Git R Done makes me want to punch babies.
I don't know whose goal in life to make rednecks sound MORE stupid (thanks Larry the Cable Guy), but well done. Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Not everyone gives a shit about "the babies". Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: janetmschulte on February 25, 2009, 02:37:33 pm Git R Done makes me want to punch babies. Also, not a big fan of all the text phrases like OMG and LOL and JK being used in normal conversation. Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: run_to_win on February 25, 2009, 02:44:40 pm "YaknowwhatI'msaying" used after each sentence as a verbal period.
Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: SportsChick on February 25, 2009, 03:03:11 pm I use "seriously" far too much. Thank you Gray's
Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: Thundergod on February 25, 2009, 03:08:30 pm - "...bring him in to mentor the young guys..."
- employee: "But sir, that's nearly impossible." boss: "Make it happen." - "We're pregnant." - "I personally" - "[insert video game] is just too repetitive/linear." - "African-American." Before you jump all over my ass for being a racist, I share the exact same thoughts as Whoopi Goldberg when she once said, "Most of all, I dislike this idea nowadays that if you're a black person in America, then you must be called African-American. Listen, I've visited Africa, and I've got news for everyone: I'm not an African. The Africans know I'm not an African. I'm an American. This is my country. My people helped to build it and we've been here for centuries. Just call me black, if you want to call me anything. I like to think of everyone born in America as americans. - And it's not a saying but, the inner nit picker in me comes out when people singularize team names (that aren't) when describing themselves or others as a fan. eg. I'm a Yankee fan. ((grrrr)) (no offense to anyone) Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: Dave Gray on February 25, 2009, 03:20:31 pm "Walking papers"
"That's ironic" when used incorrectly. And I agree with Run about "DoyouknowwhatImean?" Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: Sunstroke on February 25, 2009, 03:30:57 pm People who preface every other statement with "honestly, ..." or "truthfully, ..." because I wonder if it means that they're just lying to me all the other times. People who say "for all intensive purposes," because it's actually "all intents and purposes" Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! I don't know whose goal in life to make rednecks sound MORE stupid (thanks Larry the Cable Guy), but well done. Interestingly enough,I'm surrounded by rednecks,I consider my self to be a redneck, and don't know of many maybe a couple that have ever used the phrase. I find it very annoying too... I also don't like when I go to a store (Popeye's chicken used to notorious for this, when they were here) "We'll see you next Time!" I used to say...no you wont! I agree with Whoopi Goldberg on something? (http://planetsmilies.net/vomit-smiley-31.gif) Now I know how Dave must feeling agreeing with me 2-3 times today!Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: Tenshot13 on February 25, 2009, 09:23:48 pm When people call me "dawg" or "cuz". It truthfully gets under my skin. I just want to give them their walking papers. Honestly, for all intensive purposes, who came up with that shit? It's just so ironic, yaknowwhatI'msaying? I, personally think we need to bring in someone to mentor the young guys on how to talk. I mean, it's like a video game that is too repetitive and linear, seriously. OMG I think they're JK and it makes me LOL! I know it's mostly an African American phrase, but other races use it a lot too. What about the babies? What about the children? Are they going to grow up saying it too? I think someone needs to GIT R DUN and stop the insanity. By the way, we're pregnant. ;D

Nice. Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: bsmooth on February 26, 2009, 03:25:31 am "Can I axe you a question"
"Yo peep this out" Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: Buddhagirl on February 26, 2009, 05:51:57 am I thought of another one. I HATE it when guys try to talk to me by saying, "Say, girl". Or my personal favorite, "Psssttt."
Am I seriously supposed to stop and have a conversation with some that just called me girl or just pssttt at me? WTF are these guys thinking? Ugghhh.... Nice one, Tenshot13. "Can I axe you a question" This one makes my blood boil, too. It's even worse when followed by the question, "How many babies you gots?" Asked by a guy trying to talk to me? How is that a nice way to start talking to a woman? Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: MaineDolFan on February 26, 2009, 09:16:13 am "You know?"
Why do people need to end so many sentences with "you know?" Um...well - if you're explaining something to me that is new, I did NOT know. So no, I don't know. Listen to people talk today. You'll hear it about 10 zillion times. The other one is a localized thing, I think, because I never heard it while living in California. When we get into a deep freeze everyone walks around saying "cold enough for ya?" I even heard the local news lead off a story with it once and threw my shoe at the TV. No. Actually I would like it to be colder you freaking cum stain. Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: Phishfan on February 26, 2009, 09:19:17 am ^^^ We get just the opposite in Florida during the Summer, "Hot enough for ya?" I hate it too.

Title: Re: Phrases or sayings you hate! Post by: GUATARICCAN on February 26, 2009, 07:54:11 pm Did you play (insert sport for either big or tall person)
I love let me axe you a question! Any Futurama fans out there? Anyways in the year 3000 that is the accepted way to say that phrase. ;D |
