Title: Online Shopping Post by: janetmschulte on March 03, 2009, 09:45:31 pm I've been making more purchases online as of late. I've had some good luck and some bad. I bought a dress for an upcoming wedding and when it arrived it totally wasn't right for me, so I have to send it back :( I also bought a pair of running shoes that are great. Are any of you guys regular internet shoppers or do you prefer the traditional, going to a store kind of shopping? Are there any sites that you would recommend or have had good experiences with?
Title: Re: Online Shopping Post by: bsfins on March 03, 2009, 10:24:16 pm Ohh Yeah, I just bought a couple of jackets (Sunday) I needed some Lighter jackets for spring and summer...I also buy alot of computer parts,Jerseys,I bought my mom a new cell phone,umm...I at least price most things online before I buy them in a real brick and mortar store....Modified to add I bought my big screen LCD t.V.,and my surround sound receiver last summer online...(I looked at both at Best buy, then ordered them online..Saved about $600 on the T.V.)
I have to admit, with shoes and pants,I'm hesitant to order online...(maybe it's like a mail order bride! :D ) too much goes by how it feels, and I like to try it on.... I've had really good experiences, and really bad ones...Trying to get my money back on the T.V. the one company failed to send.... Title: Re: Online Shopping Post by: janetmschulte on March 03, 2009, 10:52:50 pm That's what I worry about, getting money back or making exchanges if stuff doesn't fit!
Title: Re: Online Shopping Post by: Buddhagirl on March 04, 2009, 06:16:35 am I won't really buy clothes online unless it's shirts or something like that. As you know I'm on the small side, and have a really hard time finding pants and dresses that fit. Even when I do shop in person my mom usually goes with me because she sews and can tell me what can be taken in or hemmed, etc.
Running shoes I would NEVER buy online. I need to try them on. If I'm buying the same shoe I would buy online, though. I like www.runningwarehouse.com for running shoes. I'll buy computer stuff, books, and stuff like that online in a heartbeat. However, my next flute needs to be bought in person because I'm not really sure what I want and want to make sure I sound ok on it. Title: Re: Online Shopping Post by: Defense54 on March 04, 2009, 07:51:59 am Things that come in definite sizes like XLarge I'll buy on line. CD's , Books, and other some Tools I shop for the best price online + no Tax usually offsets the shipping. But Shoes and things that cone custom fit I'd never buy without trying unless it was a sick blowout deal.
Title: Re: Online Shopping Post by: SportsChick on March 04, 2009, 08:13:16 am I do a lot of online shopping, but for clothes it's usually sales of stores that have locations (IE Old Navy). I know what size I am there since most of my clothes come from there and if I need to do a return, I can do it in-store.
I've done a lot of books, music, electronics (HD cases etc) Title: Re: Online Shopping Post by: Philly Fin Fan on March 04, 2009, 09:30:59 am I'm kind of like Christina. I'll order from Banana Republic online, because I know what sizes I wear, and can always return items locally if need be (eliminating the hassle of mail order returns). They usually have better deals online, plus I can shop whenever and wherever I want (when i'm traveling and in a hotel and can't sleep at 2 am).
I'd never order shoes online because I'm too picky with fit. I know Dave has talked about Zappos, but I need to actually try the shoes on to see how they fit. Defense- I'm actually hesitant to order stuff when its only sized by "M", "L", or "XL", unless I already own something from that company. I've found that different companies have different ideas of whats an "L" or "XL". I usually wear a L, but some places the L is too small. My wife does 75% of her shopping online- everything from clothes to shoes to makeup. I will also shop for other things online, if I can find a better deal than in a store. Case in point, there is a protein shake mix which I use. The stuff used to always (the last 2 years) be "on sale" for $30 at GNC, but recently went back to the "regular price" of $50. My nephew told me about a site that sells it for $19. Needless to say, I don't go to GNC anymore! Title: Re: Online Shopping Post by: SportsChick on March 04, 2009, 10:52:45 am Oh and scrapbook stuff... good deals online!
I will buy some shoes online - I love Crocs. They're good for my ankle. I know what size I am and deals can be found online Title: Re: Online Shopping Post by: Lee on March 04, 2009, 11:25:40 am The only things I buy online are items that are easily measurable and standard, like computer parts, games, dvds, etc. I don't buy clothes or shoes just because it is such a hassle if it doesn't fit or look as good as the online pictures indicate.
