I rely almost exclusively on quick reply and the "quote" buttons. Spell-check is handled by my browser (Firefox).

Oh, and the "edit" button is quite nice. I use it a lot within the first minute of posting. Instead of using preview, I hit post and THEN read my post, often prompting small edits. *shrug*

I'm pretty much right in line with fyo as far as site usage goes... I'll sometimes click on the "users online" link as well when I'm about to leave the site, to see if anyone is currently posting in a thread I may want to read.

I do what FYO does, to the letter.

I would use the search feature more if it was usable.

I like the feature of checking my last posts, so I can keep up with threads I've commented in.

Where is the quick reply?

Where is the quick reply?

Someone asked the last time it was brought up as well... If you don't have a "quick reply" box at the bottom of every thread (below the last post on the current page), you need to enable it in your preferences. Specifically, go to Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences. Select "show, on by default" in the drop-down selector next to "Use quick reply on topic display".

I'm kinda curious about the quick reply thingie... I never "activated it". It was always just there. How come it wasn't there for a bunch of other people? At first I thought maybe you guys were registered a long time before me or something, but Frimp registered about a month before me and StL FinFan two years AFTER me, so that doesn't seem a likely culprit.

I just never knew it was there. Maybe STL joined the board after dave changed servers?

Quote, font options, posting pictures, and the PMs.

I miss "go to last post."  That was a great feature.

Cough cough...hint, hint...

There is the "NEW" icon that jumps to latest unread post in a thread, providing there are any. I use that extensively as well, so if that counts among the "Bells and whistles"...

I had to activate it just now (really cool by the way) and I'm one of the newer members here.

We did a pretty major board upgrade a while back that (I think) re-set a lot of settings to a default.  The quick reply was one of them.  I highly recommend activating it, to those who haven't yet.  It's great.  You can still reply the other way, if you want to add images and stuff, but for a quick note, it's the bomb.

You can still add "images and stuff", if you know the bbcodes ;). Anyway, even if I do want to use the buttons, I'll just hit Preview (I knew there was a use for it!).
