Title: Global Warming Aside ( Recycle ) Post by: Dphins4me on March 10, 2009, 10:42:41 am There appears to be a lot of people here who are truly concerned with Global Warming.
How many actually take the time to get off their backsides & recycle everything they can? Be honest here. Glass, tin, Aluminum, paper, cardboard, plastic? I tend to not believe in man made global warming. However, I do take the time a couple of time a week to recycle most of my garbage. A family of 4 in my house generates about 1 bag of trash a week. The rest makes it down to a recycling center on my own effort. No one comes by my house to pick it up. That being said, I don't think that recycling has much of an impact on global warming; the infrastructure used to facilitate recycling requires energy, just like the original manufacturing process. Title: Re: Global Warming Aside ( Recycle ) Post by: Dphins4me on March 10, 2009, 10:08:55 pm I recycle my styrofoam when I buy things,and when I get a bunch of boxes...Unfortunately, I have to take it somewhere to have it recycled....We don't have curbside pick up....I also take old T.Vs & Monitors and such to the recycler.... I'd like to recycle everything possible but our service is somewhat selective. For example, seems like every piece of plastic has the recycling symbol on it, but they only accept those with certain numbers. Never seen a place to do Styrofoam around here.. Most UPS stores might take them,but you need to call first,they mainly only take packing peanuts.... I have a place like 500 yards from my house..computer recycling center,that takes just about everything....(except yardwaste and stuff like that) |
