Title: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Dave Gray on July 30, 2009, 05:36:12 pm Tepop touched on this in the other thread. Here's how I understand it:
Fedor is a big bad-ass who fights in K1 (a different MMA league, overseas). He is a beast, but his critics say that he's made his name fighting "freaks", rather than skilled fighters. Everyone wants him to fight Lesner in the UFC. Tomorrow, Dana White (president of the UFC) is set to make some big announcement. Most people thought that it was going to about signing Fedor to a contract, where he'll undoubtedly fight Lesner, in what would have been the most anticipated fight in the history of the UFC. But then, yesterday, Fedor signs a contract to be the cover-boy on EA Sports' new MMA video game. This directly conflicts with Dana White's rules about having rights to his fighters in the official UFC game. So, nobody knows if something just fell apart, if it's just a red herring and that White will still announce a deal with Fedor tomorrow, or if something else is going on. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: bsmooth on July 30, 2009, 05:44:26 pm I am sure this was in the works well before the last Lesner fight. After Lesner's behavior, there has been even a louder calling from the fans for Fedor to come over to UFC.
Fedor fought in Pride in Japan nad has fought more than a few people who have sense come over to UFC. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Brian Fein on July 31, 2009, 09:37:55 am anyone have a picture of this guy?

I found a particularly bloody one for you, Brian. He's not really that big of a guy. ...Lesner is much bigger. He's only 6 ft tall, but he's fierce. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Brian Fein on July 31, 2009, 11:38:31 am I had a college roommate named Fedor and he was kinda crazy at times, kinda big, and European. I thought maybe it was him...
Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Tepop84 on July 31, 2009, 01:05:40 pm eh, i don't think that fedor signing with ea will block any deal. I just think Fedor is overrated. He has fought inferior competition his whole career.
listen to the announcers blow fedor. His opponent is 2 weight classes under Fedor, which is obviously huge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC_5Cfky-o0 Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Fau Teixeira on July 31, 2009, 01:29:52 pm check out this fight

He did get his MMA record back to 2-2 after his recent victory over Jose Canseco. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Sunstroke on July 31, 2009, 01:41:27 pm All I really want is one more quality heavyweight "boxing" match in my lifetime...an Ali-Frazier, Holmes-Norton type battle. Is that too much to ask for? Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: MaineDolFan on July 31, 2009, 01:55:32 pm Lesner hasn't exactly been fighting forever.
Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Sunstroke on July 31, 2009, 01:58:39 pm Yea, that was the guys second career MMA fight, clearly a worthy opponent of fedor. He did get his MMA record back to 2-2 after his recent victory over Jose Canseco. Is that a serious statement...does an MMA match against washed up has-been baseball player Jose Canseco actually count toward a fighter's record? If the answer is "yes," I will probably never consider MMA a real sport. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: MaineDolFan on July 31, 2009, 02:14:24 pm ^^That would never happen in the UFC. The UFC should be considered the "major league" of MMA. It's heart attack serious.

A lot a top quality fighters went there over the UFC because they got paid a lot more for fighting. Now that Dana has taken over UFC and the fighters are making a ton of money, many of them came over. Nogueria Mark Coleman Mirko Filipovic Mark Hunt Matt Lindland Andre Arlovski Tim Silvia... I do not think Randleman and Goodrich are as good as these, but they are not freaks or chumps. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: bsmooth on July 31, 2009, 05:53:31 pm Yea, that was the guys second career MMA fight, clearly a worthy opponent of fedor. He did get his MMA record back to 2-2 after his recent victory over Jose Canseco. Hmmm lets see how wrong you are. 1. Fedor has one loss 2. He never fought Canseco It is blatantly ovious with your recent video post and lack of knowledge that you are just talking shit and trolling about MMA. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Tepop84 on July 31, 2009, 06:24:20 pm Heath Herring Tim Sylvia sucks. Matt lindland is a 185lber. Yea, he is good...in his weighclass. Nogueria Mark Coleman Mirko Filipovic Mark Hunt Matt Lindland Andre Arlovski Tim Silvia... I do not think Randleman and Goodrich are as good as these, but they are not freaks or chumps. Mark Hunt? lol, 5-6 MMA record. Mark Coleman 39 years old when he fought fedor. 4-5 in his last 9 fights. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: bsmooth on July 31, 2009, 10:19:08 pm Tim Sylvia sucks. Matt lindland is a 185lber. Yea, he is good...in his weighclass. Mark Hunt? lol, 5-6 MMA record. Mark Coleman 39 years old when he fought fedor. 4-5 in his last 9 fights. Sylvia was heavyweight champion so he is not a chump. Lindland weighed 218 for the fight. Coleman was a good fighter, not great, but good. Here is his last nine fights. Win 16–9 Stephan Bonnar Decision(Unanimous) UFC 100 2009-07-11 3 5:00 Las Vegas, USA Loss 15–9 Mauricio Rua TKO (Punches) UFC 93: Franklin vs. Henderson 2009-01-17 3 4:36 Dublin, Ireland Won Fight Of The Night Loss 15–8 Fedor Emelianenko Submission (Armbar) PRIDE 32: The Real Deal 2006-10-21 2 1:15 Win 15–7 Mauricio Rua TKO (Broken Arm) PRIDE 31: Unbreakable 2006-02-26 1 0:49 Saitama, Japan Win 14–7 Milco Voorn Submission (Arm-Triangle) Bushido Europe-Rotterdam Rumble 2005-10-09 1 0:56 Loss 13–7 Mirko Filipović KO (Punches) PRIDE 29: Fists Of Fire 2005-02-20 1 3:40 Saitama, Japan Loss 13–6 Fedor Emelianenko Submission (Armbar) PRIDE Total Elimination 2004 2004-04-25 1 2:11 Saitama, Japan PRIDE 2004 Heavyweight GP Opening Round Win 13–5 Don Frye Decision (Unanimous) PRIDE 26: Bad to the Bone 2003-06-08 3 5:00 Loss 12–5 Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira Submission (Triangle/Armbar) PRIDE 16: Beasts From The East 2001-09-24 1 6:10 Nt exactly a bunch of chumps Coleman fought. The rest you cannot touch with even with your obvious bias. Your whole premise was that Fedor has fought no one but "freaks and chumps". I have shown that he has fought more than a few quality opponents to include someone who has held the belt. The only way we will know is if and when Dana signs him to fight Lesner. On a side note Fedor fought Randleman who is incredibly strong and is a collegiate champion wrestler. Sounds a lot like Lesner, and Fedor submitted him. I have no doubt that Fedor and Lesner will match up will together. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Tepop84 on August 01, 2009, 01:00:51 am you are really comparing randleman to lesnar. Lesnar needs to cut to get under 265 and Randleman fights in the under 205 weight class.
Sylvia has lost 4 of his last 5 fights, sounds like he sucks. Lindland weighing 218 for the fight is irrevelant, he fights in 185lb class. He probably had to put on water weight just to weigh in legally. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: bsmooth on August 01, 2009, 03:35:42 pm you are really comparing randleman to lesnar. You can keep trying to pick apart individual fighters apart, but the turth is this. You have repeatedly said Fedor has only fought chumps, freaks, and old fat asses, when in fact he has fought quality opponents, and is considered by his peers to be one of the best fighters period, not just in his class. Your original statements or off base and factually incorrect, and all your nitpicking will not change that. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Dave Gray on August 01, 2009, 11:59:19 pm So, Dana White's announcement came yesterday, and it had to do with getting Tito Ortiz back as well as a few other guys. ...the big news (or lack of news) was that it's still a no-go with Fedor. Fedor wants a co-promotion. Dana White likened it to Brett Favre coming to the NFL, but only if the NFL gave him half.
And while I do think that White has a point, this is exactly why he's a hack as a businessman. You don't openly talk about deals at that level. It's bad business, and if anything, it's going to cause a pissing match between him and Fedor, making a deal in the future even harder. Also, his quote is ridiculous and he says "shit" and "fuck", which is totally unprofessional for a guy at his level, when speaking to media. Title: Re: Fedor signs with EA Post by: Tepop84 on August 02, 2009, 11:02:12 pm another stolen gif.
