These are no more tainted than the '99 and '00 Yankees WS victories (featuring roider-in-chief Roger Clemens).

Funny pic - a friend's facebook status a few days ago said "Whenever you're ready to give back those 2 World Series trophies, MLB office is waiting..."  Lame ::)

They could have at least tried to match the wrinkles in the banner on the 2004 one.  Sloppy work, Mr. Whoever Did This Photoshop Guy...

This is where I'll disagree a little...

I think 2004 is tainted a little now.  I do think it's silly to "*" a season.  But do I look at Ortiz and Manny a little differently now?  Yes.  Thus, taint.

Yes?

And that might not even be fair because both guys passed random drug tests in 2004 - which came about because of the 8% that tested (+) in '03.  But still.  Part of me has to wonder how much of Ortiz's success, which was nonexistent prior to coming to Boston, was chemically induced.

My joy of 2004 stays the same.  But sure, this taints that year.

I should give photo credit, it came from www.bostondirtdogs.com

I wouldn't know how to use photoshop if my life depended on it.

I recall earlier in the season we had a discussion about Ortiz and his massive slump and the underlying question was "I wonder if its cause he stopped juicing...?"  At that time, the consensus opinion was that juice had nothing to do with his slump.

Has that opinion changed now?

Nope.

This test result came in 2003.  I have a hard time believing anyone can juice, undetected, in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and now 2009.  Sooner or later you'll get caught.

I think the guy is getting old and breaking down.

Man, the New York media is all over this.  They're hounding these two guys without fail.

And one of the side effects of steroids is that it breaks you down faster.  I'd be willing to bet that if Big Papi hadn't juiced, he would still be going at a high level.... although he wouldn't have as many dingers.

I tried to fix the banners...  I'm sure Lil B can do better...

IF he juiced - one could argue that he would have never performed at a high level at all.

Not going to talk shit.

There is a good amount of Ex-Marlins that were on the championship teams connected to them. (Pudge, Sheff, Delgado, etc.)

All of these teams had roiders on them, lets not kid ourselves.

i don't have a problem with steroid use in baseball .. i think everyone should be on it tbh .. it'll bridge the gap nicely between now and the time where baseball players will get 6 million dollar man style cybernetic implants to run faster

we have the technology

Exactly.  I wouldn't put an asterisk by those titles at all.  Wasn't Canseco on the 2000 Yankees Champs for a stint??

This is the New York media taking a swipe at their most hated baseball team.

The odd thing about that?

The New York Times has zero ownership of the Yankees.

They have a 17% stake in the ownership of the Red Sox.  Betcha didn't know that, huh?

Someone tried to tell me it was a New York media bias.  Bullshit.  They have money to lose by reporting this.  Kudos to the Times.

It is.  Just not the Times.  It was the Daily News that I showed.

About '04, Maine:

For all their timely hits and success at the plate during the playoffs, Ortiz and Manny don't have a chemically un-enhanced bloody sock in Cooperstown. That's something you can always be proud of.

I can. There is a big incentive to create PED's and masking agents to hide them from testing, also testing methods are always playing catch up to the newer PED's. There is a huge market both domestic and international in all sports for these type of PED's which dwarfs and overwhelms even the best tests.

Boston doesn't win the ALCS against NYY without Keith Foulke.  Plain and simple.  The hits (of course) helped...but man 89mph FB tossing Foukley wore a cape that year.
