Title: WEC 42 (MMA style fighting)
Post by: Dave Gray on August 11, 2009, 11:03:15 am
I watched the first half of this last night.  The first fight was a good one:  Jameel Massouh vs. Leonard Garcia

Although, the outcome was bullshit.  To me, Massouh clearly won that fight.  He got rocked once early, but not only weathered the storm, he ended round one in a mount position.  Even if you give Garcia round 1 (which is fair because of the clean knockdown), Massouh still won rounds 2 and 3.  On top of that, Garcia was visibly beat up and Massouh didn't have a scratch on him.  I think the judges had it in the bag for the crowd favorite.  Bogus.

Maine edit to title only for clarification.

UFC and WEC are owned by the same people and it's the same rule set.

The difference is that WEC is the lightest weight classes only.

Think of it as Monday Night Raw vs. Smackdown, kinda.

WEC is all on Versus, while UFC is mostly PPV.  The same people are involved in both, though.  Frank Mir, for example, fights on the UFC, but is a color commentator for WEC.
