Title: Shame of the Game- Bucs (Preseason)
Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on August 28, 2009, 08:40:46 am
Shame of the Game goes to special teams.  Once again, they looked AWFUL last night.... allowing a couple of long returns, fumbling a blocked punt, and Davone Bess is nowhere near the breakaway threat that Chris Williams could've been.

Honorable mention to Chad Henne for being sacked twice and throwing a stupid pick deep in Bucs territory late in the game, and to Lex Hilliard who got stuffed several times, fumbled behind the line, and basically did nothing to help himself earn a roster spot.

The refferee that called that pass interference on hartline deserves a big FU.

The whole team played like shit. Hopefully is was the 3 games in 2 weeks that smoked them.

Wasn't it like 3 games in 10 days? That's a freaking iron man schedule!!

Wow, this is a tough call.  In my mind Pennington only had 2 good plays, the one deep one to Hartline and the Fasano TD.  Otherwise he sucked pretty bad.  For a starting QB playing with the ones with as good of protection as he had, this is enough to earn a mild SOTG for me.

Henne played Junk time and was mostly in to run down the clock, although I could see giving it to him for his inaccuracy on those throws to Martin.  Hilliard may have fumbled but that was a hell of a collision and he continues to run with insanity (good thing).  Special teams coverage wasn't good, but overall special teams wasn't all that bad.  All of our defensive backfield got exploited to a degree, but they were almost all short slants and nobody stuck out as particularly sucky.

In my mind, you gotta at least consider that the combination of wet field conditions and the tendency for defenses to be a little ahead of offenses has contributed to the 1st 3 pre-season games being lame to watch.

The coaching staff for not unleashing the wildcat on their asses.  Naw seriously,  C. Henne (aka the Future)  for that INT.   Sparano - Not letting Pat White play.   SPECIAL TEAMS...... my god man.   For some odd reason,  this look like a game the FINS did not want to play.  This SOTG is a real tough call the game was just plain awful.

I'll give my shame to Davonne Bess.  He returns kicks like crap by running sideways.
