Title: Our O line.........
Post by: Defense54 on September 13, 2009, 09:48:39 pm
I'm thinking Jake Grove was Not an upgrade , probably a downgrade.  WTF happened to Jake Long? His ass hit the grass so much I thought he was doing an impression of Drew Bledsoe............... :P

They seriously sucked...no joke.

I'm worried.    Hopefully this'll be just one of these early season things, and we can work through it, but.....

Jake Long can pancake anyone on a run block.... but he's always had problems with speed rushers.  That said, there is no excuse for him being knocked over by John Abraham like that.

Greg Cote isn't pulling any punches when he talks about the ineptness of the offense yesterday.  Particularly about the fact that we're gonna be paying this O-Line $150 million over the next 4-5 years.

Abraham was handing Long his ass, well at least for the first half.
Hopefully there will be some adjustments and the o line will gel man.

Jake Grove may turn out not to be an upgrade, but he was fine this game.  Jake Long is concerning me, he played poor in preseason too.  I am also not too high on Smiley.  When I see a defensive front make a play againts us, I usually see Smiley wiffing on a block.

That was as poorly as I've ever seen Jake Long play. I was screaming at Long and Grove on my TV the entire game...they looked more like ushers than linemen.

Bottom line...if the O-line doesn't play better moving forward, this is going to be a damned rough season for Miami.

they played terrible, no excuses, just got physically manhandled. looking back at it now, i don't think that the offensive play calling helped them much either.

there was no commitment to any type of running game. i'd like to see more consistency in running right at those speed rushers. establish a running presence, and then keep them off-balance by mixing play action off of that. the awkward play calling definitely threw off the rhythm of the o line.

seriously, the game was not a shootout and was screaming for running the freaking ball. instead ronnie ends up with 10 carries??

the one thing i don't like about this coaching staff is that they follow the plan in place way too literally, and do not allow any kind of rhythm to be established. salguero talked about this on his blog post yesterday... wildcat has to get plays in, ricky & ronnie go 2:1 split first half, switch second. same thing with the rookie corners... everything is way too methodical beforehand with no in game adjustment to allow for matching the flow of the game.

I agree, Ricky should be getting 2:1 in carries the entire game.

I swear, you really must be Ricky's agent.   ::)

Not that I don't like Ricky either, because I do, but seriously man.....

Thats what Wannstedt said too........ ::)

We had the Number 1 running game in the NFL and didn't even make the playoffs.

We have not had an effective passing game since around 97 when Dan hadn't hit the wall yet. I don't know WTF they are waiting for.........

We paid Carey too much money and Donald Thomas looked a little slow coming off the ball vs. SD on some plays.  I was surprised to see that.
