Title: Weaknesses on this team Post by: raptorsfan29 on November 01, 2009, 07:47:30 pm What do you people think are the weaknesses (position wise) on this team.

It's proven that Ted Ginn Jr. is really a kick returner and not a number 1 receiver. The lack of adjustments and creativity by the defense after half-time. Phil Simms pointed out that the defense in the fourth quarter has reversed roles from last year and has a hard time stopping people. The Miami Defense looks like two different defenses at times. They come out of the gate swarming and hitting people. By the 4th quarter, they miss tackles and can't get to QB's. Thank God for Soliai and Randy Starks. I think with the defense at this time, Joey Porter IS the weakest link. You can see age catching up to him. Receiver LB Title: Re: Weaknesses on this team Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on November 01, 2009, 09:28:13 pm 1. Receiver. We need a big, fast, physical receiver that can be number one. I've looked at the list, and I say we sign either Vincent Jackson or Brandon Marshall (or both), if they are not franchised next year. Also, do whatever it takes to draft Dez Bryant #1 overall.
2. Safety. We've got two strong safeties and no free safety. Tight ends are torching us over the middle. Gibril Wilson was a big mistake. It's time to see what Chris Clemons can do. 3. Linebacker. Joey Porter has regressed from a year ago and Jason Taylor is in the twilight of his career, so it's time to start grooming their replacements. Cameron Wake is already in the fold, but I'd like to see the Dolphins get George Selvie or Willie Young. 4. Offensive Line. Their blocking has regressed from two games ago. Chad Henne was running for his life out there today. Title: Re: Weaknesses on this team Post by: Dave Gray on November 01, 2009, 10:44:37 pm Safety, Wide Receiver, Linebacker

Do you know what the term "#1 overall" means?Title: Re: Weaknesses on this team Post by: Tenshot13 on November 02, 2009, 01:52:49 am Also, do whatever it takes to draft Dez Bryant #1 overall. I think Dez Bryant is going to disappoint some people. He might be good, but he won't be great. I think Damian Williams from USC is a better choice. He's a great route runner and catches everything around him. His only downside is he doesn't have elite speed, but neither does Dez Bryant. Also, Damian Williams might be around in the second round. Either way, WR isn't very deep in the upcoming draft, so it would be nice to get one of the two. Name one receiver from USC besides Keyshawn Johnson that actually did something in the NFL. After the Patrick Turner fiasco, I don't trust USC receivers. Marshall won't be a free agent unless there's a sudden miraculous deal between the League and the Union on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Title: Re: Weaknesses on this team Post by: dolfan13 on November 02, 2009, 09:26:57 am vincent jackson is worth backing up a dump truck full of cash on his front porch for. but as i've said before, no way san diego lets him walk.

I think Damian Williams from USC is a better choice. Hard to argue this...I really love what I've seen from Damian since he came over from the Hogs. Either way, WR isn't very deep in the upcoming draft, so it would be nice to get one of the two. I disagree with this statement a little bit...but like any disagreement over future prospects, only the future gets to swing the gavel. I like Damian, Dez, I reeeeeeally like Golden Tate...same with Mike Williams out of Syracuse. I think once Arrelious Benn is completely healthy and has a QB not named Juice throwing to him, he'll be a quality prospect. I don't think it will be as deep into the later rounds like a couple of recent drafts have been (though I have the warm/fuzzies for Dezmon Briscoe out of Kansas), but I think the talent in the first couple of tiers is legit. I really don't think Vincent Jackson is that good like a Fitzgerald. He's big but he seems to loaf sometimes. What ever happened to Roy Williams for Dallas? Title: Re: Weaknesses on this team Post by: Sunstroke on November 02, 2009, 03:35:40 pm ^^^ Roy got paid and stopped putting forth any effort. Now he's roughly the same value to a passing game as Davone Bess. I think Vincent is a notch below the elite WRs like Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, but still a whole lot better than anyone else we might get in as a FA. That said, I'm a big fan of drafting and developing your WRs, rather than FA-spending. Title: Re: Weaknesses on this team Post by: dolfan13 on November 02, 2009, 04:02:13 pm jackson is putting up some impressive numbers through 7 games so far this year. he is certainly getting into the conversation of being among the elite, young receivers in this league.
sure i'd like for the fins to find an elite wr through the draft. but if jackson hits fa, you have a proven guy there, that has his best years in front of him. it usually takes a couple of years to develop a receiver, but henne needs some real weapons like yesterday. Title: Re: Weaknesses on this team Post by: BigDaddyFin on November 03, 2009, 07:39:33 pm Middle linebacker - I don't hear Ayodele's name all that much during a game, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad. I also think Channing Crowder's mouth has been writing checks his ass hasn't cashed. These guys don't play poorly, but when they're over-matched, it's obvious.
Wide reciever - Ted Ginn needs to explode in the second half of the year. We've been patient with him and he has some bright spots but he drops way too many passes he should catch. This is high on my list not because we don't have talent at the position, but at the top levels we are inconsistant and that really hurts our passing game. Safety - Too many blown assignments early in the year. It's to the point where I can't tell if it's the middle linebackers who can't cover the tight end or the strong safety. Either way it's a constant matchup problem for us and has cost us two ball games already this year. I'm encouraged by what I see from Chris Clemmons and I think we will be better here at the end of the year than we were at the beginning. Outside linebacker - Why is this on the list? We play a 3-4, so one of these guys is dedicated to rushing the passer. At least one of them should be able to cover the pass on occasion, and Joey and JT don't cover the pass that well. We just are starting to look old at this position even though we're adequate. Title: Re: Weaknesses on this team Post by: dolphantom on November 08, 2009, 08:44:27 pm qb. henne is awful and it is killing the offense. defense is actually ok. defense sucks!!! especially in the 4th qtr. henne would be fine , if he actually had blocking. |
