Of the AFC selections, it hard to really find fault with the starting picks. I think Freeney is probably overrated, but as the DE with the most sacks in the AFC, it's an obvious pick. That and name recognition... He just doesn't seem as dangerous as he was in the past.

I can never tell when you're just being facetious...

There's a solid argument to be made that Schaub got the short end of the stick and I don't know that Rivers shouldn't have been the starter over Manning. It's close and Manning's role in calling and directing plays makes direct comparisons difficult, but I think Rivers would have gotten the nod had the Colts not been on the long undefeated run.

^^^ It comes down to this. Who would you rather play against? 9 times out of 10 most people would rather face Rivers.  Manning is a one man offense in much the same way Marino was.  There is no real comparison to what Maning can do vs. any other QB in the league.  Are the others very good? Absolutley but they are in no way Manning.

^^^ Like I said, it's difficult to compare because Manning does things that NO other quarterback does. However, looking at the "traditional" quarterback performance, Rivers has been "sharper". His extremely low number of interceptions is something that shouldn't be discounted either, although Manning's remarkable sack numbers are also very relevant.

Sack numbers are the primary reason why I don't think Roethlisberger belongs in the Pro Bowl (and he didn't get voted in). His quarterback rating is better than Brady's, but I don't think his overall performance is as good. Part of it may be attributable to a poor (and porous) offensive line, but part of it is just Roethlisberger being Roethlisberger.

I'm surprised that Moss didn't make it.

Rivers absolutely should have gone last year (instead of Favre)!  I am not sure if Rivers deserves to go this year, but that even it up for last years snub.

Who would you rate above Rivers this year? The guy has a 104.5 rating, 27 touchdowns to only 9 interceptions and is above 4000 yards for the season.

I think he's absolutely been a better quarterback than Brady, Schaub, and Roethlisberger... maybe even Manning.

What I'm disappointed in is that Lousaka Polite did not make it.  Yeah, yeah, I know his stats weren't "outstanding", however, did anyone check his stats against McClain's stats?!?!?

Player               Att  Yds  Yds/Att  Long  TD
Le'Ron McClain  45  175  3.9       20       2
Lousaka Polite  35  117  3.3       13       0

aside from the TDs, stats are pretty similar, and many games (5-7) games that I watched the announcers ALWAYS said about him popping people to open holes and I believe he was 15 for 16 on 3rd/4th and short?  I believe that's correct.

also interesting is there's no "alternate" for the FB position, though others do.

too bad, thought he had a hell of a season and looks to be one hell of a FB for many seasons to come for the Phins.
