Title: Game Ball - 2009
Post by: Spider-Dan on January 04, 2010, 07:36:15 pm
Since there's a Shame of the Year thread, I think there should also be a Game Ball of the Year thread.

Some tough choices...

- Ronnie was solid while we had him; he's clearly the catalyst to this offense
- Camarillo was a solid possession receiver and just Made Plays
- Carpenter missed 3 FGs on the year, and has been quite clutch.

But I'm giving my game ball to Vontae Davis.  He made some MONSTER plays (the pick of Brady in the end zone was huge) and is the best late-first-rounder we've had in years.  I look forward to see what he (and Sean Smith) will do in the years to come.

I like the Vontae Davis pick, as well.

Honorable Mention to Chad Henne -- He hasn't always been great (or even good), but he's showed marked improvement and is the first time I've been excited for a developing QB in our system since Marino.

Jake Long...he is a beast of a tackle, and the only Dolphin to make the Pro-Bowl!

HM: Henne, Lou Polite, R. Starks

I forgot about Jake Long.  I'm totally embarrassed and totally ashamed.

While I probably still would have given it to Davis, Long definitely deserves honorable mention.

My first thought was Henne, since he came in a played admirably, however, Jake Long is our only Pro Bowler and Vontae had a great rookie season.

1. Long
2. Davis
3. Henne

I agree, Vontae gets my game ball.  He made some monster improvement at CB as the year went on.

Honorable Mention goes to Sean Smith, Randy Starks, Jake Long, and Ronnie Brown.

I concur.  I'll also throw in Bess as an Honorable Mention.  Made some clutch catches during the season.

I'll give mine to Vontae, like the majority. However, I do want to give props to the player who has surprised me the most: Brian Hartline. For a fourth rounder, he's doing some really fine work out there.

Wrt to Long... I feel our line regressed in many areas this year. Not the fault of individual players, necessarily, as much as some strange blocking schemes.

So many to choose from:
Long, Henne, Brown, Hartline, Bess, Polite, Davis, Smith, Ricky

All of them deserve Game Balls.

For my game balls, I'd go Jake Long, Vontae "my bruthah is a bad muthah" Davis and Davone Bess, in that order.

The only reason Bess and Ricky did not get honorable mention (from me) was their fumbling.
