Title: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: Dave Gray on February 12, 2010, 01:09:01 am I just beat Mass Effect for a 3rd playthrough, trying to level up my character to begin the sequel. I have Mass Effect 2 in waiting, but haven't opened it yet.
I played Lego Indiana Jones with my wife today. Perhaps it's because she's getting better (I caught her playing by herself today while I was taking a nap.) But, after you beat the levels, you can go back and explore with all these enhanced abilities and no pressure. That environment has been fun for us, including unlocking all these little secret characters. So far, I've found C-3P0 and Luke Skywalker just chillin' in the Indy universe. Fun. On DS, though it's been a few days since I last played, I'm chugging through the new Professor Layton game. It's just like the old one, if you played it. Lastly, I have Star Wars: The Force Unleashed just sitting here for a rainy day. I bought it used for crazy cheap, so when I need a new game, I have one. To anyone who has an iPhone -- Peggle is available for a $1.99 download. Not only is that an incredible deal, but the iPhone is probably the best way to enjoy the game. The controls fit the device perfectly and it's bite sized, easy gaming. Highly recommend. PC - Half Life 2 episode 2 : yeah, I'm late to the party, sue me. It's new to me. PC - Killing Floor Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: stinkfish on February 12, 2010, 07:58:15 pm Bioshock 2. Everything else, like Assassin's Creed 2, and Patapon 2 I've put on hold.

It's new to me. about 2 months ago i played all 3 half life 2 games on the orange box. i thought the game was way overrated, kinda boring and slow, and graphically AND engine-wise behind the times. it had a decent story and a lot more potential, and i thought that the episodes got progressively better as time went on. Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: dolphins4life on February 13, 2010, 01:15:11 am Just wondering, am I the only the only who plays a musical instrument here?

Totally agree. The game was ok, certainly not the "best game ever" tag that many have given it, IMO. For the time though, ('04), the graphics were very nice, at least on the PC. Each expansion uses the exact same Source engine, so nothing really ever did improve graphically. Same with the game "Portal". Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: TonyB0D on February 13, 2010, 10:13:58 am Just wondering, am I the only the only who plays a musical instrument here? no, i've been playing piano, and a lot of other instruments since i was a little kid. i also DJ too. i have sme piano stuff up on facebook, but you have to be my friend to see it. Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: Dave Gray on February 13, 2010, 05:47:01 pm I also play piano, but that's not really what I meant when I made this thread.
Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: dolphins4life on February 14, 2010, 02:47:12 am ^^^
I know, but why limit it? edited to add: Maybe you should start a thread for musical performances. Nobody ever does, so I include mine in here. Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: Dave Gray on February 14, 2010, 03:06:33 am ^^^ I know, but why limit it? Because it's a thread about video games... I don't understand what the confusion is. Just because the action verb "play" is a homonym for musical instruments and video games, it doesn't mean they're related subjects. Counter Strike is the shit. Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: TonyB0D on February 14, 2010, 02:58:12 pm Counter Strike is the shit. we weren't talking about that.... Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: Dave Gray on February 14, 2010, 06:40:26 pm we weren't talking about that.... Counter Strike was a mod that came with Half Life. Half-Life 2 is one of the best games ever. The game is still completely relevant today, and it was released 6 years ago. That's incredibly rare. Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: TonyB0D on February 14, 2010, 07:11:10 pm Counter Strike was a mod that came with Half Life. Half-Life 2 is one of the best games ever. The game is still completely relevant today, and it was released 6 years ago. That's incredibly rare. i forgot about that.....i was addicted to counterstrike for a solid semester in college. i just thought the gameplay sucked. it was just so boring, and there was NO variety of enemies. it was really slow-paced as well. I mean i see the great potential, and the story was very good, but it was just too lacking in too many key areas to be involved in a discussion of "best games". Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: David Fulcher on February 14, 2010, 10:23:43 pm BioShock 2. It rocks. Bioshock 2. Everything else, like Assassin's Creed 2, and Patapon 2 I've put on hold. I just got this game yesterday but haven't gotten (or at least taken :-\ ) the time to play it yet. I loved-loved-LOVED the first game (quite possibly my favorite XBox 360 game ever) and was really pumped for this game up to just a few weeks ago, but for whatever reason, I'm almost scared to play it, as lame as that may sound, for fear it will be a colossal disappointment. I guess I can't live life that way, even if sequels typically don't live up to their epic predecessors in the video game world, either....hell, I already paid $64.79 for it, might as well crack it open. :D Is it spectacular also, Maine and Stink? Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: stinkfish on February 14, 2010, 11:23:34 pm ^ Spectacular. It looks, and feels like the original with a few great new additions such as new, kick ass weapons, enemies, and challenges. I guess the one thing that I have come across so far that I'm disappointed with is the new hacking system, which isn't as challenging as in the original Bioshock. But so what? Play the damn game ;D
Title: Re: What're you playing? 2/12/10 Post by: Dave Gray on February 15, 2010, 12:50:58 am Half Life 2 was the first "physics based" shooter. It didn't have scripted events, yet had puzzles that used things like weight and different materials. It also introduced the gravity gun.
Those things have been borrowed again and again, but it started at Half Life 2. It's probably like someone watching a movie like The Godfather and not getting what the big deal is, since it's been copied so many times. |
