Title: Do people sit around thinking of ways to be offended? Post by: MaineDolFan on April 01, 2010, 02:49:36 pm I had a conversation today with a broker. Somehow the conversation turned to the weather - and after the rain we have for a week + in my neck of the woods it is really nice out now. He stated something along the lines of "getting outside to enjoy it." I mentioned that I have a three day weekend as our office is closed tomorrow. At this point he asked me why. The answer? Good Friday. You would have thought that I had said that it was Hitler's birthday and we always take the day off the celebrate. This person was offended to the hilt that our office is closed on a Christian holiday. I actually thought that they were kidding, pulling an April Fool's joke on me. Nope. This person - who does NOT work for my company - was offended that a company that they DO NOT WORK FOR has tomorrow off. I basically ended the call by saying "good thing you don't work here. If you did, you would really have something to be offended over, huh?" I mean...seriously? Do people sit around and try to think up crap to be offended at? Guess what, buddy?? I get the 4th of July off too. Are you going to get into a twist over that? *Sigh* Title: Re: Do people sit around thinking of ways to be offended? Really? What the hell is there to be offended about? Does anyone get offended when Jewish people stay home on Yom Kippur? I haven't seen it. Wow. Title: Re: Do people sit around thinking of ways to be offended? Post by: StL FinFan on April 01, 2010, 03:00:45 pm what a tool

Title: Re: Do people sit around thinking of ways to be offended? Post by: Dolphster on April 01, 2010, 03:41:38 pm what a tool That summed it up pretty well. We have created such a pansy ass society. The butthurt is rampant these days. Title: Re: Do people sit around thinking of ways to be offended? Post by: MaineDolFan on April 01, 2010, 03:49:44 pm How do you know that he was offended? Did he say something? The person came straight out and told me that it was offensive. Exact words. Title: Re: Do people sit around thinking of ways to be offended? Post by: Brian Fein on April 01, 2010, 04:26:36 pm I'm offended that you're offended by him being offended.
You're so insensitive. ;) Title: Re: Do people sit around thinking of ways to be offended? Post by: Phishfan on April 01, 2010, 05:47:29 pm Can't say I'm offended. It is more like jealous.

Post by: BigDaddyFin on April 03, 2010, 12:59:27 am Don't let it bring you down, Maine. The dude is probably pissed off at the world because of all the money he's lost as a broker over the last year and a half.
if it makes you feel any better I once got a visit from the campus PC police over a can of Diet Vanilla Coke. I would have said something like "boy am I glad I don't pay your commission" that would have really set him off. Title: Re: Do people sit around thinking of ways to be offended?
