World of Warcraft, the Massive online roleplaying game that has been around for about 5 years now...It's played all around the world...

Is it Cool? Was it Cool? Is it all the rejects that played Dungeons and Dragons..Ahem...Yeah I was one of those.....So What say you TDMMC? is World of Warcraft cool?

I am completely indifferent on this one since I don't play video games. I don't even know anyone who plays it so I have no reference point.

Seriously uncool. However, I met a guy that plays Magic the Gathering. That makes WOW look cool.

It is no more uncool than any other game. Some people take it too far, but have you ever listened to all the kids talking shit on XBox live during games. Just as pathetic as the worst of the WoW players.

I think that WOW is uncool because it is so old at this point.

It came from the mighty Blizzard, therefore its coolness is both enduring and unimpeachable. ;)

Sure, but I think it's true with some things and not others.  Video games are like that.  If you were really into Halo 2 at one point, that was cool, I suppose.  However, there is a small group that still plays that game today.  That is un-cool.

So if you enjoy a game that is a few years older you are an uncool loser?

Depends.  I think that if you're just discovering a game, no.  But if you're still actively competitive in a game that's 5 years old, then yes.

Although I didn't say you're a loser.  I just think it's uncool.

Well if someone chooses to continue to play a game you consider uncool, does that not start to enter the loser realm. A person in the know would have moved on to a cooler game.

The game changes almost weekly. Which is why it is relevant still after five years.  This fact makes it cool as shit.  The fact that your character(s) you've played for so long have evolved with the game itself makes it extremely long lasting.  It's not like Counterstrike which I cannot believe people still play.  It's not the same game it was five years ago.  Shit it's not even the same game it was six months ago.  Yes, the idea itself is the same however everything changes from the story to the mechanics and game presentation and layout. 

However, this game is beyond uncool.  The level of dorkiness this game reaches beats out any game tenfold.  Even The Sims doesn't reek of acne, Mountain Dew, and stale pizza dipped in ranch like this uber dork game does.  There is just no way to defend this game's coolness.  "I'm a level 80 Death Knight who hits XX thousand dps" doesn't have the same coolness ring as another dork who had a 25+ kill streak in Call of Duty to get a nuke. 

The simple fact that a social life becomes almost obsolete in order to maintain your "sick dps" or "healz" or "super death-tank" status makes it worse than "seriously uncool".  It makes it whatever you classify a dude who turns down sex from his super hot girl to "raid" for the next three straight hours +.

I find it hard to believe that those guys have "super hot" girls.

*shrug* I knew a guy like that back when EverQuest was the MMO of choice.

Well I was a level 80 DK and the main tank for my guild and over the course of time I think I played a marathon (3+ hours) only a couple of times.
Since many here do not seem to understand, there are several raids/instances that take hours to complete.
The people who devote their whole lives to a game are usually people who have little to none self esteem or people skills and do not go out anyway.
There are millions of people playing this game worldwide and not all of them are like the decription of the uber nerd that everyone tosses out.
