The Miami Dolphins have terminated the contract of linebacker Reggie Torbor(notes), the team announced.

Torbor underwent an unspecified offseason surgical procedure and didn't practice at recent minicamp practices.

Torbor was signed by the Cowboys as an unrestricted free agent in March of 2008.

Torbor is a former New York Giants 2004 fourth-round draft pick.

I'm kinda shocked, but Torbor was a dissappointment.  I had high hopes for him when he came to Miami from the Super Bowl Giants, but he never panned out.  I'll give the Tuna and his helpers credit that at least they haven't made the mistake of holding onto veterans who aren't producing.  They're willing to take chances on a more inexperienced guy especially if he comes cheap.

I see all the talk of Atogwe and I don't see it.  I'm thinking that the Dolphins will start either Clemons or Reshad Jones at FS this year.  Young and cheap with an upside is better than experienced and expensive that someone else doesn't want.

For all the mistakes that Parcells and Ireland have made, they're still building it the right way in my opinion, through the draft for the most part.

I feel like Torbor could have a legit shot to share some significant start time on several other teams.  But here in Miami, he just didn't excel enough to take play time from Crowder or Ayodele (who stayed healthy).  He simply cost us too much for the role he played.

I guess we can infer that the coaches are liking what they are seeing out of Dobbins and Edds at this point.  Torbor may not have been a play maker, but he wasn't a liability.  You don't let go a good insurance policy kind of guy go like that if you don't have someone to fill that role.

I have been reading the Sentinel's articles the last couple of days about Torbor being picked up by the Bills:

Today's headline:
LB Torbor eager to make fresh start with Buffalo Bills after being abruptly cut by Dolphins

first off.......who cares?!?!?  if he's not with the Phins anymore, I don't care!

obivously, the team is moving in a different direction and didn't feel Torbor fit into their plans.

he has no intention discussing what went wrong in Miami now that he's got a fresh start with the Buffalo Bills. he states "I think I have a lot left to show still," Torbor said. "I kind of come to work with a little chip, something to prove. It helps."

so, in order to get excited about playing ball, you have to feel like you've been disrespected or not wanted?!?!?  give me a fockin break.

I remember you looking like a buffoon on the 4th & 10 play against the Jets in the Meadowlands, trying to cover Dustin Keller (not only did Keller make the catch, Torbor got called for pass interference).  I could have gotten a high schooler to make a play on that ball.
