Title: Notes from May 28 minicamp Post by: Doc-phin on May 29, 2010, 02:10:30 pm A lot of you may know of this stuff, but for any that haven't been able to check reports out...
I saw some video and damn Sean Smith and Bess have put on some muscle. Bess still looks fast out of breaks and if he reduces his ball protection issues could be as good a slot receiver as there is in the league. Smith struggled with tackling, so perhaps the muscle helps. Supposedly he is starting to look for the ball a little more as well (as in interceptions). Word is that Vontae is also looking great (physically, including speed)! Sparano gave the impression that he and Smith have been working like dogs to correct mistakes from last year. But that must not have taken away from the weight room. Pat White is apparently not looking particularly improved, but Thigpen is looking very good (great at times) and appears to be the clear #2 heading into training camp. Clemons is supposedly looking very good and has shown some ability to go after the ball, but it is hard to say how well he understands things like scheme. Still, at least he is showing some good physical and instinctual skills. Just thought I would post something about some of the question mark areas that I had seen reports on. Nothing good or bad floating out there about any of the OLBs, and I would say that is a big question mark. So far the word on the OLBs is more of a consistancy issue. |
