Title: Detroit Lions president to suffer the wrath of Goodell? Post by: fyo on June 29, 2010, 10:50:32 am This past weekend, Lions team president got arrested for DUI with a blood-alcohol twice the legal Michigan limit.
Does this mean Goodell will suspend him for 4 games? (No, I'm not joking... Goodell has emphasized that the personal-conduct policy applies to everyone in the NFL, from players and coaches right up to himself). My guess, NO. As best as I can tell this is his first offense with the league. And for a player with similiar conduct that would likely not involves a suspension. Also as the President doesn't have any real game day responsiblities a suspension would be kinda meaningless and almost impossible to enforce. Suspended players aren't allowed to participate in any team activities during their suspension. They are specifically precluded from even being at the team facilities for the duration (4 weeks or whatever corresponds to those gamedays). There are exceptions, but those are typically (exclusively?) limited to the off season. |
