Title: MLB All Star Game Post by: Sunstroke on July 14, 2010, 12:07:57 am Year of the pitcher carried over to ASG of the pitcher for the most part...dominant arms all over. Josh Johnson looked great in his two perfect innings, but best of all...
NL: 3 AL: 1 VIVA la National League, bitches!!!! ;D (now bite me, AL Elitist swine!) ;D Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: Tenshot13 on July 14, 2010, 01:19:46 am I'm just glad to see my Rays represented some of the only action for the AL. Longo did his thing and I'm proud of Price too. Awesome to see him in the spotlight.
Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: EDGECRUSHER on July 14, 2010, 01:36:13 am I always thought homefield in the world series being decided by this game was a terrible idea. Now that the AL lost, I think it REALLY is a terrible idea.
Pretty boring game actually. Crowd was dead too, but then again the Angels fans in general are crappy unless it's the playoffs or against the Yankees. Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: Sunstroke on July 14, 2010, 02:22:07 am Even though the NL actually "gets" the homefield edge this year, and my Padres are actually legitimate contenders for the playoffs...I STILL hate the all star game having "any" effect on the World Series. Any time you allow a pimply-faced pre-teen who knows nothing about baseball the opportunity to vote 5,000 times for the participants, the game needs to immediately become "exhibition only." Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: EDGECRUSHER on July 14, 2010, 03:05:22 am Padres pitching is ridiculous. 3.25 team ERA. Most teams don't even have ONE pitcher that good, reliever or starter.
If they can somehow add another bat, their chances are excellent. Only thing they have to worry about is Latos' innings limit. You would hate to have to shut him down in September because he hit 190 innings. Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: Brian Fein on July 14, 2010, 10:10:51 am I wish the All-Star game were different. Less serious. I like seeing guys having fun, goofing around, kinda like that little exchange between Valverde and Byrd in the 9th. I like to see outfielders trying to play short and Shortstops trying to pitch. I like to see people just having fun. These guys are always so serious.
But, to be honest, I think more people watch it when its a "real" game. Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: MaineDolFan on July 15, 2010, 03:12:54 pm I'm stoked. Now when Boston sweeps away whatever pathetic excuse for a team that it faces in the World Series (see '04 St. Louis and '07 Rockies), they'll finally be able to celebrate a World Series win at home, in Fenway! Yay! Thank you, Bud Selig for this great idea!
Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: Brian Fein on July 15, 2010, 03:34:41 pm ^^ don't you mean Boston's backups and AAA prospects?
Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: MaineDolFan on July 15, 2010, 03:38:51 pm Nope. They'll be full strength (+) soon. They'll even be getting the forgotting (former) starting short stop Jed Lowrie back. Who, by the way, is hitting the cover off the ball in AAA.

Yay! Thank you, Bud Selig for this great idea! Boston would need to actually make the playoffs in order to win the world series, and NY and TB are coming out of the AL-E this year. Hey...there's always 2011. Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: EDGECRUSHER on July 18, 2010, 02:36:38 am The Yankees likely are, but AJ Burnett still is on the roster, so you never know.

Any time you allow a pimply-faced pre-teen who knows nothing about baseball the opportunity to vote 5,000 times for the participants, the game needs to immediately become "exhibition only." Then how do you propose the homefield edge ought be awarded? For all the knocks people have about the system...you have to give baseball credit for making the all-star game a more compelling event than the pro-bowl. Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: Sunstroke on July 19, 2010, 01:03:19 pm Then how do you propose the homefield edge ought be awarded? Better interleague record... Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on July 20, 2010, 07:18:43 pm I am really looking forward to the All Star game being here in Phoenix next year. I am doing everything in my power to score some bleacher seats for the Home Run Derby.
Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: StL FinFan on July 20, 2010, 07:45:58 pm Good luck AZ! We couldn't even get a whiff of tickets when it was here.

Stubhub, ebay etc. Tickets at face value different story. Title: Re: MLB All Star Game Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on July 20, 2010, 08:27:44 pm Good luck AZ! We couldn't even get a whiff of tickets when it was here. Well being as Phoenix is a pretty fickle sports town I might be OK. Not to mention with all of the "protests" going on over our wonderful yet controversial SB1070 immigration bill hopefully that will free up even more tickets for people like me. As a last resort being as I am a Purchasing Manager for a manufacturing company I have a ton of "Big Name" vendors who all get tickets to these events. That is how I managed to land Suns/Lakers Western Conference Finals game 6 tickets 8 rows up this year. One way or the other I am pretty sure I will be able to go it is just a matter of wether or not I can sit in the bleachers in home run territory like I want to or not!!!! |
