Title: Hanley and Lester Apparently Don't Get Along Post by: EDGECRUSHER on July 15, 2010, 02:25:15 am http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/07/14/jon-lester-doesnt-care-to-share-pizza-with-hanley-ramirez/ (http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/07/14/jon-lester-doesnt-care-to-share-pizza-with-hanley-ramirez/)
It ultimately means nothing, but it's still a bit interesting. Just makes me think if Hanley stayed in Boston, could he handle the media scrutiny and spotlight? He is obviously an amazing talent, but Boston and it's fans can be pretty tough on a player. Title: Re: Hanley and Lester Apparently Don't Get Along Post by: Sunstroke on July 15, 2010, 07:41:26 am Man, if this author had only taken it a step further and asked Lester if he thought Hanley had ever jaywalked in his life, this article would be complete... ::) ::) Title: Re: Hanley and Lester Apparently Don't Get Along Post by: MaineDolFan on July 15, 2010, 01:22:59 pm No one liked Hanley when he was in Boston's organization. The funny thing about Ortiz is that he thought Hanley was a punk of epic scale. Keep in mind that the MLB roster guys (at the time) didn't know him outside of spring training.
Hanley, Lester, Papelbon, Pedroia, Youkilis, Delcarmen...they were all at the AA here in Portland at the same time. Everyone had the same beef with Hanley in the Sea Dogs locker room that has carried to the Marlins locker room: Bad attitude, bad work ethics. One of the reasons Hanley was part of the trade for Beckett. Not at all, and quit looking for personal offense where none exists...you're better than that. What I WAS saying, just in a snarky way, is "who really gives a rat's ass in a sewer tunnel about what John Lester thinks about Hanley Ramirez?" To expand on that, who give's a rat colony's collective ass about what any Red Sox player thinks about any Marlins player. Was it just a slow news day up there in AL Elitist country? Or do you think the Marlins fans are truly desperate to hear those random Boston opinions about players no longer in the Boston organization? Gotcha. The thing is that Lester, himself, is a prick too. No one talks about that, though. He works hard, but he's a class A dink. The other pitchers on the staff like him well enough, but he doesn't really have any buddies on the team (from what I'm told). He just likes to be left alone, kind of like Randy Johnson. Like Randy Johnson too, I am sure it won't be an issue as long as he continues to pitch great. Remember, Randy Johnson wasn't really a jerk until he got to NY and had an ERA well over 4. |
