Title: The Bengals franchise is a complete joke
Post by: jtex316 on July 27, 2010, 10:03:45 am
Who is running the show in Cincinnati?

I don't know who "dey" be, but they are clearly idiots and run a horrible organization.

Look at the roster of screw-ups and jag-offs that they currently have:

http://www.bengals.com/team/roster.html

Some notables:

Cedric Benson - A formerly disgruntled RB with legal troubles
Antonio Bryant - A primadonna WR who is mediocre at best
"Tank" Johnson - An overrated, fat, legal-troubled DT
Adam "Pacman" Jones - No explanation needed
Dhani Jones - An average LB who worries more about being on the Travel Channel than making tackles
Matt Jones - A pot-head WR who can't stay clean
Chad Ochocinco - Again, no explanation needed!
Roy Williams - The guy whom they invented the "horse-collar" tackle rule for??

...and I'm sure I'm skipping a few other guys.

...and they want to add T.O. to this disaster of a 2010 season????

The Cincinnati Bengals are officially on the clock for the 2011 NFL Draft.

You mean the defending AFC North champion Bengals?

I hope the Dolphins and 49ers can crack such jokes in their respective divisions this season.

I believe this is referred to as a "paper" champion (I could have the saying wrong). Basically, it was handed to them on a piece of paper. Pittsburgh exploded and Baltimore won 10 games instead of 11. It was a fluke 11-5 season and they showed their true colors the last two games of the season where they weren't even close to the Jets.

You mean the Jets team that is widely considered (outside message boards of their divisional rivals anyway) a primary contender for the Super Bowl this season? Yeah, let's throw out the larger group size (the regular season) and focus in on the two games they played against a very good team that was red-hot at the time.   Sure, I suppose that's one way of judging a team.  ::)

Filing this one under "Joe's Incomprehensible Angst" and letting it go...

You seemed to have comprehended it well enough to formulate a response.

You REALLY think the Bengals are good? They will finish 8-8 this season at best.

I don't see the Bengals repeating as division champs. I think the Ravens will take the division this year, but I cannot agree with them being a bad football team. I also think it humorous that you would use Chad Ochocinco (I've finally decided to use that name) as a point of contention of how bad the team is. At that pace you should have listed carson Palmer as well. Ochocinco has personality, but his talent is unquestioned.

I really hope they get T.O.

I like OchoCinco and T.O.  (as entertainment goes) and I love a good circus.  Win or lose, it will be fun.

...and an 8-8 team that won their division last season is a complete fucking joke?

This is the point I'm getting at, Joe... Compared to where the Bungles franchise "used to be," which was definitely a joke, the current Bengals squad really isn't that bad. Certainly not bad enough to warrant an out-of-the-blue thread to proclaim the franchise as a complete joke NOW.

Therein lies the "incomprehensible" part of my response...

It's not out of the blue, though.  They did go after T.O.

It'll be a circus.

Sunstroke, that's a different argument. You're first saying that i'm "incomprehensible" because I'm talking about the Jets and  the Bengals losing back-to-back to the Jets, and then you're saying that i'm "incomprehensible" because i'm not looking at the Bengals franchise from a historical perspective and how far they've come. Pick one and let's go with that :)

P.S. The Bengals will suck this season.

No, I was saying that your angst toward the Bengals at this point in time was incomprehensible, given that they are arguably playing better now than at any time since the Boomer Esiason era.
