@USO-Orlando....while I can appreciate your enthusiasm and I'm always a half-full kinda guy, I like them around 10-6 or 11-5 range.

I see at least 1 loss apiece to NE and the NY S-U-C-K-S, loss at BAL, MIN and possible lackluster performance against one of the crappy teams (take ur pick...BUF, OAK, DET)

I would like to see the team come out of the gates on fire and start ripping some teams a new a$$hole.

Let's Go Phins!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shameless brag alert!!   I got it right last year in this poll when I predicted them going 7-9.  But I think I'm going to wait til closer to the start of the regular season before I take a stab at this year's record.   I think the team is a little better and the schedule should be more cooperative than last year.  So I definitely think they will have a better record than last year.

I too will be waiting for some preseason to be completed before I make my prediction.  My apologies to the poster.

If they run "The Wildcat": 6-10
If they run an actual NFL offense: 9-7

6-10 if henne stays healthy, 8-8 if he doesn't.

Damn I was going to say 12-4.  Okay, how is this for homerism?  13-3.

10-6, and gets the wild card slot in the playoffs on a tiebreaker.

12-4 and we sweep the jets again

Title: Re: Season Record Prediction-2010
Post by: Pappy13 on August 13, 2010, 03:36:41 pm
10-6.  Split with the Jets and will have a shot at the division title and sweeping the Patriots in week 17.  They will lose that game and the division but back into the playoffs when the Ravens beat the Bengals and Jets lose to the Bills after Ryan promises a victory.  Patriots win the East at 11-5.  Dolphins lose wild card game.

Now THAT's a prediction. :)

Our schedule is BRUTAL - look for us to finish 8-8, no playoffs.

I reserve the right to wait until after preseason. At this point I would go 8-8 as I really have nothing to base it on.

11-5 (if the defense matures), otherwise 8-8.  I will be at the opener in Buffalo, 40 yard line, 15 rows up; looking forward to an opening day win!!

Some of the recent roster moves (especially picking up Bobby Carpenter who is so horrible that even the Rams cut him) make me think that the Dolphins have roster talent issues.  A couple of weeks ago, I might have thought the Fins would go 10-6.  But recent issues have me concerned.   I'm going to make my official prediction as the Fins having an 8-8 season.  I hope that I'm wrong and that they will do much better.   We'll see.

9-7

Title: Re: Season Record Prediction-2010

I'd love to say 10-6, but A LOT of things would have to go really great, and this team has not instilled a lot of optimism in me as of late.  This year 8-8 is probably more realistic.  The O-line and the lack of defense scare me.

The first half of the schedule will keep the Dolphins out of the playoffs.

I'm looking at a few ominous harbingers:  offensive line still in flux, defensive secondary still in flux, unproven commodities at linebacker and defensive line, aging running backs, a QB still cutting his teeth...  I think this year will be a growing pains kind of year due to all the youth, so I'll peg them for an inconsistent 9-7 (they'll look great one week, what-the-hell awful the next).

Title: Re: Season Record Prediction-2010
Post by: Sunstroke on September 08, 2010, 10:34:45 am

I really want to be optimistic, but what I've seen this preseason isn't lending itself to optimism.

Dolphins finish: 7-9

Third place in the AFC East.

Disappointment abounds...

I am going with 8-8 now that the roster is set.  I am preparing myself for some heartbreakers.

-We have too many new pieces.
-I thought our O-line would be more ready than they are.
-I didn't expect Smith to take a step back.
-Henne and Marshal look like they need a little more time together to be a consistant threat.
-We already seem to have a bit of an injury bug this year.
-Our schedule and division are particularly difficult.
-Dansby and Crowder aren't strong enough leaders for this young of a defense, IMO.
-Our special teams looks to be taking a step back.
-Hartline even looks a little shaky right now.

Many concerns for me.  We have nice ingredients, but this thing looks a little raw and needs to bake for a while.

I'm gonna go all rosey optimistic....with 9-7....

My major concerns....
1.) Special teams coverage,the little I've seen in preseason...Ohhh yucky,yuck,yuck....
2.) I don't think we're gonna be able to be a balanced enough offense,multitude of reasons...(Henning the O-Coordinator,O-line gelling)**
3.) Defense being pounded by the run,and wearing out...

**For me it's not the depth of the O-line,because after Long, and Carey, the drop off in talent is big.To me there is no difference between the three that start, and the guy's on the bench, but we need them to work together, and become one unit....

at the beginning of summer, I was really confident at 11-5, maybe 12-4 if things fell into place.  but, after viewing the last couple of weeks of pre-season games and the recent trials and tribulations of the team, I'm thinking more along the lines of 9-7, maybe 10-6.

the fact that our secondary has not stepped up as much as I had anticipated bothers me.  I'm glad jason allen is getting a shot (the man has been hammered ever since being drafted in the 1st round), but with sean smith failing expectations, that's not good.  I think allen will play hard, just don't think he'll be a force back there.

the offensive woes the team has experienced doesn't bother me as much as injury to jake long does.  I hope that is not a lingering issue for the season.  I still see the Phins with a nice running game complimented by the addition of marshall on the outside.  more weapons for henne.

the special teams is definitely a glaring issue.  we'll see if they turn it around.

finally, the announcement by Parcells & Co. a couple of days ago.  huh??  this team & front office has some of the worst timing I've ever seen with regards to announcements & sayings.  they need to hire a speech writer from hollywood.  at least give the "appearance" of looking like you know what you're doing.

finally, as I tell me 11yr old boy every year, I will ALWAYS be a Dolphins fan no matter what happens or how they play.  like the captain of a sinking ship, I will be with them to the very end.

Go Phins!!!!!!!!!

in the offseason i picked 12-4 .. i'm going to have to revise that estimate now after seeing the pre-season games and how our opposition shakes up

i'm gonna change my prediction to 13-3

that is all

I'm thinking more along the lines of 9-7, maybe 10-6.

Thanks for sharing your inner thoughts.  We are all very touched and moved.

But that ain't how we play the game. Pick a final end of season record, between now and before the kick off on Sunday, not  a range.  The we lock up the thread until the end of the season and see if anyone got it right or who got the closest.

12-4.  If they can get to the Chicago game at 6-3 they can win 6 of the last 7 games on the schedule.

Hoodie, as the bit you quoted clearly stated, Dolphster wanted to wait until a bit closer to the start of the season before giving his official prediction. That he did, on 8 August: http://www.thedolphinsmakemecry.com/forums/index.php?topic=16977.msg206085#msg206085
