Just wanted to share this story.

I work as proctor for my college.  I swipe people into the dorms.  I love the job because I'm indoors, not exposed to the hot sun.  I can fool around on my computer for most of my shift.  And it immensely helped my grades last spring because I studied longer and better while working.

However, my internet cable stopped working a few days ago because I no longer live on campus.  I had tried access my school's wireless connection, but since I am useless with computers, I couldn't figure out how.   This made for some excruciatingly boring shifts. 

Yesterday, one of my coworkers was giving me a lunch break.  When I got back, I randomly clicked on my firefox portal and was amazed.  The Internet was working.  I facebook IM'd my coworker and asked what happened.  She told me that she had connected me to my college's wireless network while giving me my break.

That was a small act, but it made a huge difference for me.  Now, I can enjoy my shifts and not be tired from boredom.  It's great to work an environment where people care about each other.  And it's the small things that make the biggest difference. 

It's nice that you don't work with a-holes. 

I used to work with a whole bunch a-holes. So glad I got away from them!

The people at my internship in the spring of 2009 were AMAZING, however.
